With Dark and Light, Snail Games aims to create an MMO set in a magical world. This magic flows from the planet itself and is available to you.
Dark and Light could become an unusual MMO. It starts with the fact that only 100 players will be active per server. This supports the survival elements, which come into play better when you don’t meet a helpful player every few meters. Additionally, every encounter with other players should become something special. And you can explore the vast world on your own.
The world is full of magic
Dark and Light takes place on the planet Alpha, which is home to the “Sacred Path.” This is the center of magic. The world is flooded with magic, which you can use. The flow of magic through the land also shapes it. Overall, you will travel through 25 zones, from ancient moors and enchanted forests to gigantic volcanoes, snow-capped mountains, to floating islands.
The magic is also represented in the many creatures you encounter, including dragons and unicorns. Some of these beings you can tame and use as mounts, for example. However, to impose your will on the most powerful creatures, you will need the help of a whole clan. So while there will be relatively few players on the servers, group play is also important.
Survival like in Conan Exiles
Dark and Light comes – at least currently – without quests. The survival aspect is similar to that of Conan Exiles. You learn more about the world and its background story by wandering through the land and discovering clues.
However, there are currently plans to create a quest line for the introduction, to guide players into the MMO. Dark and Light is reportedly set to release later this year.
