Only on Tuesday, CD Projekt Red released the DLC Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077. In an interview with PC Gamer, Game Director Gabe Amatangelo revealed what the future holds for Cyberpunk.
What happened? Last week, CD Projekt Red released the major update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077. The free patch brought numerous quality-of-life updates as well as complete adjustments and overhauls of the game systems. This week, they launched the expansion Phantom Liberty with new story content and a completely new district for Night City.

Following the DLC release, Cyberpunk 2077 Director Gabe Amatangelo gave PC Gamer an interview where he discussed the future after the expansion.
What does Gabe Amatangelo say about the future of Cyberpunk 2077? Only smaller patches will come after 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, including bug fixes. Larger content updates like the DLC are not planned.
2.0 and Phantom Liberty are the last major updates. We will do a bit more, but those were the last big ones.

When asked what the team plans after the last minor updates, Amatangelo replied:
After that, it will be Cyberpunk 2. Or “Orion” should I say. Whatever we ultimately end up calling [the game].

Project Orion was mentioned in May of this year in CD Projekt Red’s financial report for the first quarter of 2023. This is a new CD Projekt Red game for the Cyberpunk universe.
What happens next with Cyberpunk 2077? As Amatangelo announced, there will only be smaller patches from now on. CD Projekt Red will forego large content updates. Phantom Liberty will thus also remain the only DLC for the game.
What do you think about the announcement? Were you hoping for more content for Cyberpunk 2077? Are you playing the game (again)? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
However, we likely have not seen the last of V, Johnny Silverhand, and co. CD Projekt Red loves to embed Easter eggs related to their IPs in their games. In Phantom Liberty, you can also find new elements from Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
