Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way: after a difficult launch in 2020, marked by massive technical issues, the game is now stable. With numerous updates, performance has significantly improved – and now the RPG blockbuster is available on Steam at an unprecedented low price.
What kind of offer is this? It is an open-world action RPG from CD Projekt Red, in which players fight for survival as a cyberpunk mercenary in the neon-lit city of “Night City.” Currently, the game is heavily discounted across various platforms, whether on Steam, PS5, or Xbox.
On Steam, it is the lowest recorded price so far at €26.99 until December 4th. The price is similar for consoles – for the version on Xbox it is also €26.99, and on PS5 it is €24.99 until December 2nd.
Especially for those who were deterred during the rocky launch, there is now the opportunity to test the game at a significantly lower price. And it’s worth it: the game’s reviews are very positive in 2024 (94% over the last 30 days on Steam), but that wasn’t always the case.
From Launch Debacle to “City of Dreams”
What was happening at release? During the release year 2020, Cyberpunk suffered from numerous technical issues that not only disrupted the flow but, in many cases, completely ruined the game.
Particularly on older consoles, it was considered unplayable. The game could not meet the promised expectations due to the many bugs and glitches, which led players to react with frustration and anger. A disappointing result for a AAA studio.
Since the catastrophic launch, the studio seems to have learned. CD Projekt Red was keen on repairing not only the game but also the relationship with their players. Thanks to many updates and optimizations, the studio was finally able to present what they wanted to offer with Cyberpunk, and fans regained their trust.
How is Cyberpunk performing today? In addition to the previously mentioned DLC, CD Projekt collaborated with Studio Trigger to produce the animated adaptation “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,” which premiered on Netflix in 2022. Furthermore, the studio recently announced that they are working on another animation project related to Cyberpunk.
Through the necessary reflection and ongoing work, CD Projekt Red has finally been able to present the Cyberpunk they teased over 10 years ago. And the story seems far from over.
