One of the most important new features in update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 is the new skill tree. CD Projekt Red has nearly completely overhauled the original version, especially streamlining it. What you need to pay attention to while leveling up is discussed here.
How is the skill tree structured now? When you open your character menu and go to the “Character” tab, you see the attribute overview: Constitution, Reflexes, Technical Ability, Intelligence, and Coolness. The mysterious Relic attribute will only be available with the DLC Phantom Liberty, which will be released on September 26.
The biggest change is in the layout of the detailed skill trees for the individual attributes. To view these, click on the desired attribute. The new advantages tree is now displayed from bottom to top.
For each attribute, you can unlock four levels of so-called advantages. To do this, you must have allocated certain minimum points. All attributes start with three base points.
- Level 1: from 4 points
- Level 2: from 9 points
- Level 3: from 15 points
- Level 4: from 20 points
What has changed? Especially the layout of the advantages. Before the 2.0 update, they were implemented in large, intersecting structures – passive talents and unlockable skills were arranged chaotically.

New is also that you can take back your allocated advantage points. This was not possible before the update. So you don’t have to reset your entire character for a respec, but can decide selectively whether and which skills you want to use when.
Additionally, CD Projekt Red has reduced the total number of available advantages and added new ones. For the new auto fights, you can now learn to hack cars and motorcycles, for example.

Attributes, Advantages, and Skill Progress – how do you level up what after update 2.0?
How do I get attribute and advantage points? Most of your attribute and advantage points, with which you unlock your skills, you get when you level up. Occasionally, you also unlock points with the “skill progress”.
How do I distribute attribute and advantage points? To distribute your attribute points, hold down the left-click. Alternatively, you can also allocate attribute points in the already selected advantages menu. To do this, click on the upward-pointing arrow icon to the left of the advantages tree.
You can distribute advantage points with a simple left-click on the desired advantage. The only thing to note is that for certain advantages, you must have partially or completely skilled a main advantage first.
An example: If you want the advantage “Transfusion” for 30% more health when using a healing item in technical abilities, you must first have chosen the advantage “War Addiction”. You can also see from the upward connection that “War Addiction” is a prerequisite for “Health Freak”.
How do I level my skills? You cannot level your skill progress actively but passively. To do this, you simply need to play: If you sneak a lot and surprise opponents from behind, your assassin skills increase. If you surprise your opponents with quick hacks and use your technical skills, your level as a netrunner increases.
