Even in the release version of Cyberpunk 2077, players found the mysterious code FF:06:B5. You can find it at the foot of larger statues in Night City, but also in private apartments. A solution has not yet been in sight, although even a 24,000-strong reddit community has formed. But with update 2.0, even NPCs are now joining in the search.
What puzzle is it about? Players have been biting their teeth on the mysterious code “FF:06:B5” since the release in 2020. This can be found at four statues scattered throughout Night City. Since the discovery, they have been trying to figure out what it means based on the Cyberpunk lore, the game itself, and previous CD Projekt Red games.
Lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077, Pawel Sasko, has confirmed in his own streams that the code has meaning. With update 2.0, CD Projekt Red has implemented new hints in the game and even NPCs are now searching for the solution to the puzzle.
What were the previous clues? You can find the code “FF:06:B5” at four statues spread throughout Night City. One life-sized version can be found at Corpo Plaza and Reconciliation Park, in front of which each group of monks is praying. However, two smaller ones can also be discovered in Vs Apartments in Japantown and City Center.
In addition to the above confirmation by Pawel Sasko, players have found further hints outside of Cyberpunk 2077. In the next-gen version of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a triangular symbol with a circuit motif appears – in pink: If you enter “FF:06:B5” as an HSL color code “FF06B5” into a program like Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop, you get the color “Shocking Pink”.

What are the new clues? With update 2.0, there are now more concrete hints at the solution of the puzzle: When you travel to the fast travel point “Protein Farm” in the Badlands, you will find Biotechnica Flats. If you chose the Nomad background for your V, you will visit the place during the prologue. The church built there could not be accessed before – now it is open.
In the church, you will find a kind of techie hideout. The laptop brings the most new information: An NPC named “Polyhistor” is trying, along with a group of other interested parties, to solve the puzzle surrounding the code “FF:06:B5”.
The partner “TyRo//aNtA” writes in his last email that he found important clues in a retro video game: Arasaka Tower 3D. The game has been newly implemented with 2.0 and can be played in the church. According to the NPC mails, there is “a keyhole in a door that was thought to be a wall”.
What is the current solution status? In the emails that you can read on the PC in the church, Polyhistor and TyRo//aNtA mention that they found the solution in the video game. TyRo//aNtA cryptically informs Polyhistor about it before he disappears. Polyhistor also seemingly finds the solution and plans to disappear but wants to inform the rest of the team first.
YouTuber Sam Bram traces in his video the steps of the NPCs and finds hints in Arasaka Tower 3D about two of the biggest names in the Cyberpunk lore: Morgan Blackhand and Spider Murphy.
In the Cyberpunk universe, Morgan Blackhand was a legendary mercenary who was part of the attack mission on Arasaka Tower, in which Johnny Silverhand also participated. In Cyberpunk 2077, his current status is unknown and before the release of the DLC Phantom Liberty, it was speculated whether he would appear in Dog Town.
On the other hand, Spider Murphy was one of the best netrunners of her time. She was also part of the task force at Arasaka Tower. In Cyberpunk 2077, you can buy two of her books.
All’s well that ends well?
The puzzle is not yet fully solved. Since update 2.0 is still quite new, this does not mean that all clues have been found. YouTuber Sam Bram himself says in his video that he has not yet been able to get through the door that was thought to be a wall.
The community, especially the 24,000-strong subreddit, is on the case – especially since the fates of Morgan Blackhand and Spider Murphy now seem to be linked. It is also interesting that all NPCs disappeared after searching for the solution to the puzzle.
