CD Projekt Red has Cyberpunk 2077 completely overhauled. The new Update 2.0 changes almost every system in the game, fixes bugs, and makes some builds significantly stronger – or weaker. Players are excited, although most now find it more challenging.
What is Update 2.0?
- On September 21, Update 2.0 was released as a free patch for all owners of Cyberpunk 2077.
- The biggest change with the update was the completely revised, new skill system of the game, which changes how many builds play.
- In addition, there were adjustments to weapon balancing and the UI, new radio stations, and some “Quality of Life” improvements.
Players praise: Since the update, players have been discussing on Reddit how much better Cyberpunk 2077 has become. After the game did not meet expectations, especially at launch, some are now giving the RPG another chance.
The consensus is: Cyberpunk 2077 is now finally the game that one wished to have at launch. Or at least very close to the state that was expected. Everything feels smoother, just better.
In particular, bug fixes seem to have been necessary. In a thread with over 1,200 comments, it simply states: ‘The game feels 10 times better, looks a bit better. I will take a while to get used to the new controls, but I’m glad I no longer have to skip dialogues by crouching.’
‘Being a cyber ninja has never been more fun’
In further threads, players discuss that Cyberpunk 2077 has become significantly more challenging. Adam Smasher, for example, whom people used to joke about by beating him with a giant dildo, is now a real challenge. Like everything in the game: ‘Breathing is a challenge,’ jokes a user.
The cyber psychos that one would have easily taken out before are now real boss fights that require caution. The AI is still a bit crazed at times, but the fights feel better, more satisfying – as if they actually fit the play style.
The revised skill system is particularly enjoyable for netrunners and players who focus on stealth and hacking skills. While they were not necessarily bad in Cyberpunk 2077 before, they were significantly lagging in comparison to other skills.
Now, all netrunner players will have to read and understand a few dozen skills first, but then it is really fun to build a corresponding build with them. Especially the combos that are now possible are extremely strong.
Update 2.0 is just the first part of a major renewal for Cyberpunk 2077. On September 26, the DLC Phantom Liberty will be released. MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiß has already played it:
