The developers of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red, have announced another delay for the release. The highly anticipated science fiction game will not be released as planned in September, but rather in November.
When will Cyberpunk 2077 be released now? In a post on Twitter, the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 announced that the release of the new game will be on November 19, 2020. That is about two months later than the previously announced (and already delayed) release on September 17.
Why the delay? In their statement, the developers write that Cyberpunk is actually finished. Both in terms of gameplay and content, the game is already complete. This week, the first journalists are supposed to start testing the game.

However, they still don’t seem to feel comfortable with the current state. The developers write:
With such a wealth of content and complex systems entwined, we need to go through everything carefully, balance gameplay mechanics, and fix a bunch of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things we have to iron out, and we are using the extra time to do just that.
CD Projekt Red lives by the motto: “It’s done when it’s done.” They apparently don’t want to release a game that they themselves are not satisfied with.
Second delay, players show understanding
The players’ reaction to the new delay is largely neutral but understanding. Twitter user krazd writes: “Really, guys, take your time.”
The discussion under the tweet mainly revolves around the fact that people apparently prefer to wait longer for a game than to receive a bad product. Twitter user Sexy Ben brings up a quote from Shigeru Miyamoto, a legendary game designer (Donkey Kong, Mario):

Twitter user Nibel provokes a bit, but also shows understanding: “It wouldn’t be a real CDPR game if there weren’t several delays.”
Recently, it has been quite quiet about Cyberpunk 2077, partly due to the current global pandemic. In January 2020, the studio shared news about the multiplayer, but no good news. What the future of the game holds remains to be seen.
