A planned television broadcast of CS:GO has now been canceled. The reason is the shooting in Munich.
The “killer game” debate has an impact on the broadcast schedule. ProSieben MAXX originally wanted to broadcast CS:GO this weekend – covering the ELeague. Semi-final matches were planned. But after Munich, the shooting a week ago, and the wish of Interior Minister de Maizière for society to have a “killer game” debate, it will not happen.
Apparently, the shooter in Munich preferred to play Counter Strike.

No first-person shooter games like CS:GO anymore
Due to the events in Munich, ProSieben MAXX announced: They do not want to broadcast any first-person shooter games like CS:GO at the moment. They ask for understanding.
The spokesperson for the gaming marketing agency Freaks 4U, Matthias Remmert, expressed his regret. Such an event could have also shown every non-eSports fan how great the sport is. They accept the decision, even though they would have wished for a different outcome.
Freaks 4U operates eSports portals like 99Damage. Remmert has also been frequently seen in the broadcasts.
The quote and the broadcaster’s decision to temporarily stop broadcasting shooters are circulating through English-speaking gaming media like Polygon. The huge U.S. sports website ESPN is also reporting on the incident.
