Fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive often have to wait a long time for updates. To ensure that one comes, some fans have evoked the notorious “Caster Curse” but in reverse. Find out here what it is all about.
What is the “Caster Curse” all about? The “Caster Curse” is a phenomenon well known to many eSports fans. When a caster, as the commentators in eSports are called, announces something, according to many fans, the opposite almost always happens.
So if in a match the caster loudly declares “Player X is about to go around the corner and make a kill”, the exact opposite will presumably occur. Therefore, the “Caster Curse” is a well-known phrase and a widespread superstition in the eSports scene.
Since the power of the curse seems to be so great in the minds of fans, some got creative and asked on Reddit for casters to talk about the eagerly awaited next big update of CS:GO.

Casters announce a new update by denying it
What is the CS:GO update about? Fans of CS:GO are eagerly awaiting major updates of the game. The developers have been working for a long time to overhaul the game from top to bottom, and fans are wondering if a significant update might be released this year.
To ensure this definitely happens, the fan Genuine 750k Party Pin had a funny idea. What if the casters of the famous eSports tournament ESL Intel Extreme Masters did not announce the update live on stream? According to the arcane laws of the Caster Curse, it should definitely be guaranteed to happen.
The “petition” on Reddit quickly gained momentum and many fans joined the idea. The thread eventually received over 5,800 upvotes and 127 comments.
How did it turn out? Indeed, the two casters, Alex Richardson and Chad Burchill, seemed to take the matter seriously. At the end of their stream, they addressed the update in an overly serious manner.
As Richardson said: “With great power comes great responsibility. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that we definitely will not be getting an update, right?”
Burchill gravely responded: “There is no chance we will receive a CS:GO update anytime soon.”
Richardson even added to clarify the “curse”: “Next Tuesday will 100 percent not be the big day!”

In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, there are currently more quirky stories. Recently, a professional from Sweden got into serious trouble with the tax office. He allegedly neglected to report his prize money worth $120,000 due to ignorance. He nearly ended up in jail for it.
