The concept of the world in Crowfall is a bit different. While there will be a larger, persistent world in the upcoming tests, the Eternal Kingdoms are not the place where the core gameplay takes place. The Eternal Kingdoms are a safe haven where players can engage in crafting without being constantly attacked. PvP will then take place in the Dying Worlds. You go there to collect resources. The Dying Worlds will also feature open PvP.
Griefers and gankers led to the introduction of safe areas
The developers consciously chose this approach. They want players not to lose their motivation when they are constantly ambushed while crafting. They have experienced that players quickly give up and leave the game when there are no safe areas. Therefore, with the upcoming test, the Eternal Kingdoms will be introduced as these safe areas. Moreover, previous tests showed that there were many players who simply attacked newcomers, causing them to lose interest.
Power gamers have it hard
Regarding skills, Todd Coleman, lead designer of the game, explains that players should not occupy themselves with any numbers. They should just have fun and play the game. However, they are aware that there are power gamers who want to reach the maximum as quickly as possible. In Crowfall, it will always become harder to increase a skill, depending on how high its value already is. The higher it is, the longer it takes to improve.
