Crowfall actually planned a soft launch late in 2017, but that didn’t happen. There is a delay.
The developers do not want to provide a specific date for a release. As a target, they state “as early as possible in 2018.”
In any case, ArtCraft is not planning a conventional release, but a soft launch. This means that at some point, Crowfall will not perform any more wipes and simply keep the servers open. Development will still continue.

Such soft launches occur repeatedly in the MMO space. Developers then simply open the servers for an open beta permanently, eventually reaching the “no-wipe” stage, meaning progress is retained. Fans continue to play while the devs actively develop and eventually remove the designation “beta.”
The team behind Crowfall aims to create a game world that functions differently from what you typically find in MMORPGs. Each player manages their “Eternal Kingdom,” which they expand by visiting campaign worlds, gathering resources there, and facing many challenges. However, these campaign worlds will eventually be destroyed and new ones opened that offer different challenges.
Soft launch won’t be long now
It is already possible to get a taste of this game principle. The test servers are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Those who purchase access with a founder’s package can participate and provide feedback to the developers. As early as next year, these tests are expected to lead to the soft launch.
This year, a lot has happened in the game, which has grown from a simple PvP arena to an experimental campaign world that already reflects the basic game principle. The team could not achieve all its goals for 2017, but 2018 will also be a productive year that brings the soft launch of Crowfall.
