Crowfall: Players are liable with their name – No anonymity for griefers

In the MMORPG Crowfall, so-called griefers and player killers should think twice about ruining the fun for others. Because they will not remain anonymous.

Griefing is a popular pastime for many. Players – who are usually weaker – are ambushed and killed repeatedly in PvP. This makes the attackers feel good, have fun, and ruin it for the victims.

The classic Ultima Online almost went under due to griefing, as victims abandoned the game in droves at that time. Therefore, a server with stricter rules was introduced, focusing on PvE. A controversial but necessary solution.

Griefers are a problem

Griefing is still a problem in many MMORPGs today, especially when open PvP with full loot is up for debate. On one hand, players enjoy the risk of being attacked by other players at any time and anywhere.

However, this opens the door wide for griefers to engage in their malicious play, which can ruin the fun for many. The MMORPG Crowfall is designed around PvP, which raises the question of how the developers will tackle the griefing problem.

In Crowfall, no one is anonymous

They do not want to impose strict rules on the fans. Essentially, the players determine what is allowed and what is not.

This could now become a paradise for griefers. But they will surely think twice in Crowfall about annoying others.

Because every player’s account name is visible to everyone. A griefer will be immediately recognizable and can be associated with their account name. Anonymity is a thing of the past. And this is the shield under which many griefers operate. Even if one creates a second character, it is always clear to whom it belongs.

So, anyone who has a hero as a friendly helpful player and a second character who constantly attacks other players will not have a good time in the game, because probably no one wants to play with them – not even with the helpful character.
