Crimson Desert: Multiplayer, Coop and Crossplay – All you need to know

Is there multiplayer in Crimson Desert? No, there will be no multiplayer at the release on March 19, 2026. Although the game was originally planned as an MMORPG and it was later said that there would be multiplayer or MMO content, the game will initially launch as a single-player experience.

However, during a business report (see Play3.de), there was already talk about what should happen with the game after the release, and the planning of a multiplayer was also mentioned.

Multiplayer for Crimson Desert – Plans and Content

When will multiplayer come? There is no exact date for that, and it is currently unclear whether multiplayer will actually come. The business report mentioned that they would consider implementing it if the game was financially successful enough. The framework for it is already in place.

What content is planned for multiplayer? According to an investors’ meeting, the multiplayer is supposed to be “similar to GTA” (see ResetEra.com). Players should be able to form gangs and complete various missions together. PvP elements are also mentioned in that regard.

Will there be custom character creation for multiplayer? Nothing is known about that yet. However, it is very likely that only the characters playable in single-player will be available as well, which you can also play in single-player.

Will there be microtransactions? Probably not. In a podcast, Will Powers, Director of Marketing for Crimson Desert, explained that there will be no cash shop for cosmetic items.

Will there be crossplay? There is currently no information on that. However, it is very likely that you will be able to enjoy multiplayer with friends on other platforms. Whether it will be only possible for console players like in Black Desert remains to be seen.

But even if there will be no multiplayer content for Crimson Desert at release, the game comes with a huge array of different features. MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz has therefore taken a closer look at all the content and believes that it could easily keep up with an ambitious surprise from 2025: Crimson Desert is a solo experience with MMO scale, and could be as successful as the big RPG surprise of 2025
