In Crimson Desert, a user found AI images on the walls and confronted the developers. They are now admitting mistakes, apologizing, and want to make amends.
What kind of images are they? In Crimson Desert, users discovered AI images on the walls shortly after the release. They display typical problems such as disappearing legs or arms becoming legs.
The discovered AI images were primarily paintings and other 2D assets hanging in buildings that players initially did not notice. However, the discovery was a big shock for the fans.
Previously, it was clearly stated that Crimson Desert was not designed using AI. But the users were right, as the developers are now admitting major flaws.

Developers’ Apology
How are the developers responding to the accusations? The developers of Crimson Desert have admitted that the paintings are indeed AI-generated assets.
According to a statement on X.com, they were used as placeholders in the early development phase to give the developers a sense of the world and atmosphere, so they wouldn’t have to look at missing textures.
According to the developers, it has always been their intention to replace these assets before release and deliver quality as promised.
However, this did not go as planned, which is why the assets made it into the final game. They are also stating that they should have expressed the fact they used AI beforehand in their statement.
What happens next? The developers of Crimson Desert have stated that they want to examine all assets in the game for traces of AI and will replace the AI assets with real graphics in the upcoming patches.
At the same time, the developers announced that they will conduct an investigation into their own processes to ensure that such mistakes do not happen in the future. They also want to work on transparency during development and communication with players.
Crimson Desert was supposed to be created without AI. Due to the players’ discovery, the developers have lost the trust of players, which they must now regain with a comprehensive reworking. After all, they are actively addressing one of the game’s biggest problems: Crimson Desert Patch 1.00.03 from March 23 brings storage and improves controls – Patch Notes
