In Destiny 2, the Festival of the Lost is currently in full swing. In this context, Guardians can also earn a new auto rifle – the Horror Story. How does the weapon perform and who is it worth it for?
The Halloween event Festival of the Lost offers various event-specific loot. Guardians can also earn a new weapon – the auto rifle Horror Story. However, this requires a lot of work. Is the long grind for the event weapon worth it?
The Horror Story – What the Auto Rifle Can Do

The Horror Story is a legendary auto rifle and is exclusively available through the Festival of the Lost. The special feature of the weapon: It comes as a masterwork and with a fixed power level of 600 – regardless of your current power level (Forsaken required).
How to Get the Horror Story
The event auto rifle costs a proud 120 Soul Fragments at Amanda Holiday. Guardians have until November 6 to do this. But it requires hard work.
The fragments are earned by completing event-specific bounties from Amanda Holiday and mastering the new activity Haunted Forest. However, just relying on event bounties only slowly gives the necessary amount of Soul Fragments.

You can speed things up a bit with the Haunted Forest and some hours of hard grinding. Per run, you can earn between 6 and 11 Soul Fragments. What you should keep in mind in the Haunted Forest to make your life easier can be found here: With these 10 tips, you master the Haunted Forest in Destiny 2
What Makes the Horror Story Unique
The Horror Story is an auto rifle with precision frame and a rate of fire of 450. This makes it fall into the same archetype as, for example, Origin Story.
In principle, it is even a slightly improved version of the same weapon; even the weapon model is the same. However, the Horror Story has an additional perk and can be fitted with mods. Besides the red dot micro sight, the weapon also offers the perks High-Caliber Rounds as well as Zen Moment and Rampage – both are very good perks.
The weapon is carried in the kinetic slot and has solid base stats in stability and handling, while the range is very good. Since the weapon already comes as a masterwork, the already good reload speed is additionally increased.

How the Horror Story Plays
Basically, the Horror Story is a good auto rifle from the currently likely best archetype. The problem with the weapon: There are currently numerous better alternatives to auto rifles, both in PvE and in PvP.
In PvE activities, the auto rifle performs decently. Especially in larger gatherings of enemies, the perk Rampage noticeably comes into play. This allows many smaller enemies to be quickly eliminated. You can further increase this effect with the mod Minor Spec (more damage against smaller enemies).
In PvP, the weapon also performs decently. The perk Rampage can be of great benefit in the right hands, especially in combination with Zen Moment. This makes the handling of the weapon much more pleasant, especially on consoles. However, it takes a moment for the perk Zen Moment to take effect.
But even though the weapon performs solidly in both areas, it struggles to stand out in the current meta and does not really shine among the crowd. Additionally, the perks on the Horror Story are fixed.

For Whom is the Horror Story Suitable?
Currently, there are significantly better alternatives in the kinetic slot in both PvP and PvE, although the weapon can still do quite well in the right hands. Those who simply cannot do without auto rifles will not go wrong with the Horror Story. It can also be worthwhile for collectors, as it comes in a cool festival look.
However, the weapon is particularly worth it for all those who are currently hunting the max power level of 600, regardless of their weapon preference. Because it comes guaranteed at power level 600 and the drops of Powerful Gear are directly dependent on your character’s power level.
If you equip the 600 Horror Story with a power level of 560, your power level will be pushed up by about 5 points. The next powerful drops should then be, depending on the source, another 2 to 5 points above your power level. If your power level is below 560, the Horror Story should provide an even greater boost.
So if you are still working your way towards the level cap, the grind for the Horror Story could be worth it. You still have time until November 6 to secure this weapon.
