CCP Games announced on the Steam platform that the support for the game EVE: Valkyrie will be discontinued. However, the developer studio of EVE Online is already working on a new title.
What is the game EVE: Valkyrie about? The game is a first-person shooter where players engage in multiplayer space battles against each other.
The player can take on the role of a mercenary. There are missions to complete, often focusing on revenge or profit. Players often encounter pirates who must be dealt with in space battles.
EVE: Valkyrie can be played in combination with virtual reality headsets providing immersive gameplay. The official website promises “a first-person space shooter that brings players together on PC and PlayStation 4 in fully balanced online multiplayer battles.”
EVE: Valkyrie takes place in the well-known EVE universe. Additionally, there is the expansion EVE: Valkyrie-Warzone.
When will EVE: Valkyrie be closed? On July 1, the developers released a statement on Steam. In this they announced the closure of EVE: Valkyrie-Warzone to the community:
- For now, owners of the game will have no restrictions
- The servers will remain active for some time
- Cut-off date is August 5 of this year
- On August 5, the servers will be shut down, social media profiles will be closed, and the website will go offline
- Once the servers are offline, there will be no more support for the game
This is not the first shooter that the EVE makers have discontinued. In 2016, for example, Dust 514 was already discontinued and the new Project NOVA never saw the light of day.

“We will see you in the next life”
How do the developers justify their decision? CCP explained in the statement, besides the information about the closure, the reason for it (via Steam).
The developer studio wants to focus resources and attention on the development of new games that are also set in the EVE universe.
In the end, they thank the fanbase and write: “We look forward to the next chapter in the EVE universe and hope you will be a part of it and continue the journey with us.”
How did the community react? On Reddit, players expressed sadness and thanked EVE: Valkyrie (via Reddit).
- Rocky1138: “Thank you! I really had fun back then when VR was still brand new.”
- jacobpederson: “A sad day. Thank you for your great effort.”
- True_Sketch: “The multiplayer mode was a real blast and had a great variety with all the different ship types. If this game were to be remade with today’s VR capabilities, I think it would be a success. Especially now that VR is ubiquitous. It wasn’t the case when this game was released. I think it was bad timing and not that the game wasn’t fun.”
What is CCP working on now? At the EVE Fanfest on June 6, CCP presented a new tactical multiplayer shooter. MeinMMO was live on site, but only a few details about the new project were mentioned.
Among other things, you should be able to play on New Eden, with a focus on atmospheric environments. There are talks of innovative gameplay elements, but a date is still missing. This is already the fourth shooter the EVE makers are now trying their hand at.
