A Pandaren levels up in World of Warcraft in a strange way. She reached level 60 – on the starting ship that she never left.
In World of Warcraft, there are many goals set by the game, but for some, that is not enough. Many set their own goals that seem absurd at first glance. Like a Pandaren woman who has set out to reach level 60 already in the starting area. Even worse: she hasn’t even left the ship before the Isle of Exiles.
What happened? The Pandaren “Chica” has reached level 60. That alone would not be surprising, but the location of the level-up is quite so. She is still on the ship that leads to the starting island “Isle of Exiles”. Without leaving the ship, she has already achieved the maximum level.

Why is this funny? Actually, the “Isle of Exiles” is a starting area where players only stay until level 10, and then the quest line leads them off the island. On the starting ship, you are even there for much shorter, only a few minutes. There, the basic controls of World of Warcraft are explained before the ship capsizes in the first quests and you are forced to land on the island.

How was the character leveled? On the ship, there are only a few experience points available. After a short introductory quest, you are even forced to leave the ship – so Chica couldn’t rely on that. Instead, she used a “trick” that has been applied in the WoW community for several years now: Pet Battles.
The majority of quests for Pet Battles are account-wide. This means that the quests can be completed on one character, but another character claims the reward. This allows experience points to be gathered with characters that would not otherwise gain any XP in a conventional way.
How long did it take? The entire action took Chica about 237 days. However, it was a stroke of luck, as Chica had originally estimated the duration at a whopping 637 days. With Patch 9.1, the amount of experience points received from Pet Battles was raised again for levels above 50, so the shortened duration was the result.
If it hadn’t been for this buff to experience, it would have taken over a year – because then Chica would need 637 days to reach level 60 this way.
By the way, this is not Chica’s first “absurd” achievement. There has also been a character leveled to level 60 on the starting island of the Pandaren. Apparently, the aim was to follow in the footsteps of Doubleagent…
What do you think of this achievement? Impressive and a lot of perseverance? Or a clear case of “Why?”
