In FIFA 21, you can not only take over real professional football players but also celebrities from other fields. The Volta mode provides the place for it.
These stars are in Volta: As EA Sports announced, you can challenge the squads of the so-called “Groundbreakers” in FIFA 21’s Volta mode. If successful, you can win them for your team.
Among the Groundbreakers are, for example, Cover Star Mbappé, the new icon Eric Cantona, or talents like Joao Felix. But two names stand out from the first list: Anthony Joshua and Diplo.
Who are Anthony Joshua and Diplo? Anthony Joshua is a very successful British boxer. He won the Olympic gold medal and is a multiple heavyweight world champion.
Diplo, on the other hand, is a musician, DJ, and producer from the USA. He is known as a football fan and has shares in the American club Phoenix Rising.
In street football mode, you can now win them for your team. Volta was already a somewhat “freer” mode before, where, for example, men and women can play in the same team, which is otherwise not possible in any other mode. But having stars from other fields playable – that’s new. This is something you typically know from games like Fortnite, where there have been events like concerts or crossovers with movie franchises.
In a tweet, EA Sports mentions the “first wave of Groundbreakers”, suggesting that more will be added in the future.
Who knows who else will step onto the pitch to prove their football skills.
List of all Groundbreakers:
- Kylian Mbappé
- Kaká
- Anthony Joshua
- Trent Alexander-Arnold
- Thierry Henry
- Diplo
- Joao Felix
- Eric Cantona
What else is in Volta?
This is what’s in Volta this year: Besides the Groundbreakers, there are several new features in Volta. This includes, for example, the ability to play Volta together – a feature that many players wished for.
There are also more cosmetics such as clothing for your players and a total of six new stadiums where you can show off your tricks.
In the new Featured Battles, you can play against AI – including against star teams, but also teams from the community. This seems to work similarly to the Squad Battles from Ultimate Team. Additionally, there is the two-hour story introduction to the mode called “The Debut”.
