The origin character Gale in Baldur’s Gate 3 can ruin your gameplay if you’re not careful. More details on MeinMMO.
Who is Gale? Gale is one of the origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. He is a human wizard who can join your party. Companions support the player and bring their own backstories and traits.
Warning Spoilers: The article contains spoilers about Gale’s story.
He is a prodigy with the goal of becoming the greatest wizard. Gale is a multi-faceted character who shines with his charming demeanor and vast knowledge.
His insatiable thirst for magic often leads to disasters. A destruction orb lies in his chest that could explode at any moment. To prevent him from exploding, he must constantly consume magical items. According to Larian Studios, he is one of the most common reasons why many players die.
Gale’s early death doesn’t stop him from exploding
What mistake did the players make? The game has something very special built in that acts like a mean game master. A woman and her husband learned this the hard way.
They killed Gale and didn’t allow him to fulfill his prophecy, and according to Reddit user NameNotFound12, the following happened: “Some time later, after 8 hours of shared gameplay, we see a cutscene of Gale, whom we killed. He lights up like a Christmas tree and our entire game was destroyed by a nuclear explosion. Boom! Game over.”
You can see the explosive story on Reddit here:
In Gale’s first conversation, he informs you that he has a need to eat magical items – to prevent anything bad from happening. However, the couple killed Gale because they didn’t like his attitude. But suddenly, after several hours of gameplay, everything was blown up.
If you allow him to die, his spirit will appear before you. The spirit will urge you to resurrect him in two days, otherwise, his terrible fate will come true. If you don’t resurrect him, he explodes and kills everything. The two players thought he was bluffing, which he apparently was not.
Is the gameplay really completely over? Fortunately, the scene with Gale does not actually lead to the end of the game. However, you must load an earlier save, as both you and all other characters in that scenario have died.
It is advisable to take Gale’s warning seriously and carefully consider how to handle this situation. You have the choice to heed his warning or not allow the situation to escalate. Another alternative is to not include Gale in your party from the beginning. You have various options, choose wisely.
During his questline, you can fix it so that he does not need magical food regularly. You then receive a button on the hotbar, allowing you to decide to blow him up at any time.
