Currently, a “Limited Test Phase” of Counter-Strike 2 is running on Steam, a kind of beta. But how do you get access? Are there keys or can you just start a download? MeinMMO clarifies.
How can you participate in the Counter-Strike 2 beta? Currently, there is no direct way to the new tactical shooter. The developers explain that they select the testers themselves.
In a blog, Steam operator Valve introduced the factors:
The developer team of Counter-Strike 2 selects players based on several factors, including (but not limited to) recent playtime on official Valve servers, the trust factor, and the status of the Steam account.

Currently, you cannot just get into the test. It also doesn’t help to pump a lot of playtime into the shooter now. The developers explain that only the playtime before the start of the test counts (via gamepro.com). We answer more questions about the beta below.

How do you know if you are allowed to play? To do this, start Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In the main menu, you will receive a message about whether you are allowed to participate in the test.
Through the message, you can then download CS2 and select “Limited Test Phase” in the Steam options of the game.
How often are players invited? The blog states that over time, more and more players will gain access to the beta. So keep checking CS:GO. However, it does not reveal how many players are invited with each wave or how often invitations are sent out.
How long will the beta run? The limited test phase will run until the release of Counter-Strike 2 in summer 2023.
Do you earn XP in the beta? Yes, you earn XP as usual during the test phase, which will then be transferred to your Counter-Strike account at the appropriate time.
Will the beta run on other operating systems? No, the test phase is only intended for Windows.
