The MMORPG Corepunk relies on an aesthetic reminiscent of League of Legends. However, it also aims to offer challenging raids and tough PvE content, taking inspiration from WoW. The new PvE gameplay showcases how well this mix works.
What does the latest video show? The developers of Corepunk have released nearly 15 minutes of PvE gameplay. In it, 4 players team up to take down various enemies.
Among other things, the camps that players can farm are shown. There is also a boss fight to see. Additionally, the inventory and equipment are introduced during the video.
The fights appear quite difficult, and the developers’ health points drop to low levels repeatedly; at times, they even die.
How is the video received? About 10 hours after the release, the video has nearly 12,000 views and received almost 1,100 thumbs up and 68 down.
In the comments, the simple yet stylish interface, the combat system, and the high difficulty level of the enemies are particularly praised.
Corepunk sounds like a mix of LoL and WoW
Why does it remind of LoL? Corepunk is played in the isometric perspective, as you might know it from LoL. The controls and graphics also bear a strong similarity to the MOBA.
Also special is the so-called fog of war, which covers the map and surroundings. Areas that you cannot directly see with your character remain invisible to you. This mechanic is also known from LoL.
Where does Corepunk remind of WoW? The MMORPG is said to be as complex in dungeons as Mythic+ in retail WoW. At the same time, there are many mechanics that remind of Classic, such as:
- Mounts that require a certain level and a lot of in-game currency
- Corpse runs after your death
- There is no dungeon finder
- Talents that can only be reset for money
The developers also emphasize that a large part of the content is geared towards the endgame. 40% of the game will focus on the leveling process, while 60% will be about endgame content.

What else does Corepunk offer?
- 6 classes with 18 different specializations
- 4 gathering and 4 crafting professions, where the best crafters can also create equipment that approaches raid level. However, anyone wishing to buy equipment from the best crafters must speak to them personally.
- Open-world PvP and in special arenas
It is currently unclear whether there will be separate PvE and PvP servers. The game’s focus is actually on open-world PvP, but the developers are discussing the possibility of introducing pure PvE servers.
Will Corepunk be a good pastime for players waiting for the LoL MMORPG?
What is it with the LoL MMORPG? An MMORPG based on LoL is on many people’s wish lists. This is partly due to the game world Runeterra, which simply offers many stories and interesting characters. On the other hand, many players believe that only a large company like Riot Games can deliver a successful MMORPG.
In late 2020, Riot Games officially announced an MMORPG set in the League of Legends universe. However, many details are still not known. Officially, it is only stated that players will not love every feature and that the release is still a long way off.
Corepunk, however, could fill exactly this niche. Although it does not take place in the Runeterra universe, both visually and mechanically, it seems to come closest to what many hope for from the LoL MMORPG.
After all, the developers of Corepunk rely on old-school elements combined with modern technology and plenty of PvP content. This should appeal to the community.
When will Corepunk be released? The release was announced for late 2021, but the developers could not meet the deadline. Instead, the first major beta test is now expected in December. You can register on the official website (via Corepunk).
