The action MMORPG Wayfinder suffered from a catastrophic early access launch on Steam. Due to technical issues, many players left the game right at the beginning. A major update aims to bring them back.

Due to the catastrophic launch, the game has received a bad reputation from the start. Some players would only return when the title switches to a free-to-play model. Wayfinder is set to become free in early 2024. Currently, players need to purchase a package to play it.

Wayfinder loses players, now entices with major update
What is the current status of Wayfinder? Recently, there are an average of 255 players on Steam giving the game another chance (via steamcharts.com). At launch, there were still around 25,000 players.
Although the title has lost over 99% of its players, the development team from Airship Syndicate is working on a new patch. The largest update of the game so far is expected in December, bringing about 2,000 changes (via X).
The changes include:
- Performance and UI improvements
- Rework of weapons and values
- Earn cosmetics in the game
- New customization options
The team is gradually presenting the contents in more detail. So far, fully customizable weapon colors and two new Wayfinder color slots have been introduced. Additionally, the attack speed of sword & shield as well as scythes is expected to be increased.
The development team is even making an effort to rework all ranged weapons. In the coming days, Wayfinder plans to introduce more new features from the patch.
When will the update be released? A precise release date has not yet been determined. Since the update is titled “December Update v.02”, it is assumed that the patch will be released sometime next month.
