In New World, you can choose from several professions that you can pursue throughout the game. Cooking is one such profession that can provide you with immense buffs if you select the right dishes. We at MeinMMO show you everything about cooking in this guide and which dishes yield the most benefits.
Why is cooking so advantageous? As a chef, you have the ability to create dishes that boost you or your activities:
- For PvE, there are foods that can cause rarer materials to drop while chopping wood.
- For PvP, there are meals that increase your stats in combat.
Why is leveling my cooking skills important? With a higher cooking level, you gain access to more, and especially better, dishes. And these are exactly the meals that you will want to use repeatedly as the game progresses.
Leveling cooking quickly
Here’s how to level your cooking skills quickly: The best method is to repeatedly cook “recovery foods.” These are, compared to more exquisite meals, extremely cheap and can be produced en masse. However, you will need a lot of ingredients for that.
We will show you what ingredients you need and, above all, where to find them.
- Honey
- Every town has a honey stand. You should always use it when you teleport to a settlement.
- The cooldown is about an hour, and if you always pay attention, you should quickly have a lot of honey accumulated.
- South of the “Hermit’s Shrine,” there is also a lot of honey that can be gathered.
- Nuts
- Nuts can literally be found everywhere there are trees. Just pay attention to the ground, and you’ll find them in abundance.
- If you have trouble, use the navigation bar above, as starting from level 20 in harvesting, berries and food ingredients will be displayed in your vicinity.
- Blueberries
- The advantage of these fruits is that they spawn in groups at certain locations. Thus, during a round, you can quickly harvest 100-200 berries.
- You can find blueberries easily in 3 locations: in the vicinity of “Amrhein Temple” and “Destroyed Obelisk,” as well as around “Webermoor Castle.”
- Skinning is your best friend
- Every animal, whether wolf, deer, or turkey, should always get your utmost attention, as skinning these animals provides the meat needed for crafting.
Available buff food
Which dishes should I cook? There are 2 different types of food that provide you with buffs: “main attribute food” and “ability food.” Here’s a quick overview of what is available.
Main attribute food:
- Here, depending on the selected attribute, you can increase your stats. For example, with “pork chop with applesauce,” you can increase your strength by 10 for 25 minutes.
- At first, it may seem little, but when you consider your entire group, that adds up to a total of 50 attributes. And in wars involving up to 50 players, you can imagine the difference it can make.
Ability food:
- This type of food provides you with strong buffs for your gathering or crafting skills. For example, “honey brew” increases the minimum armor value when crafting armor, allowing you to craft better gear.
- “Herbed roasted potatoes,” on the other hand, increases your luck by a whole 1,400 when mining. Luck plays an immensely important role in obtaining rarer materials in New World, so these dishes are extremely beneficial.
- Choose your food based on what you intend to do to maximize your yield.
Is that all, or is there more to come? Throughout the game, you will find more recipes, or New World will introduce new dishes. So if you are one of the first to take advantage of them, you will reap immense benefits.
However, the strongest materials are sometimes only dropped in high-level areas.
How to obtain rare ingredients
And where do I get the rare spices from? You can obtain cinnamon, oregano, and all the other spices by harvesting herb bushes. These grow everywhere, but each region returns different ingredients. The same goes for loot chests, as each area provides different ingredients—especially salt, pepper, and yeast can be found in these chests.
We will list for you where to find what. However, the list is not exhaustive, and as soon as we learn of more locations, we will add them.
- Wind Circle
- Mint, ginger, and thyme (herb harvesting)
- First Light
- Cinnamon, dill, and nutmeg (herb harvesting)
- Coconut, tomatoes, and apples (chest loot)
- Everfall
- Salvia, basil, and garlic (herb harvesting)
- Salt (chest loot)
- King’s Rock
- Yeast (chest loot)
- Harvest Knife Reef
- Cinnamon, parsley, and peppercorn (herb harvesting)
- Coconut, tomatoes, and oranges (chest loot)

Other good places to find ingredients. Abandoned farms are scattered across the map. These always house a variety of different fruit and vegetable spawns. If no other player has touched these spawns, you can quickly gather hundreds of carrots or broccoli.
