The next addon for Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone will actually revolve around supervillains. The expansion is called Rise of Shadows and we already know some of the cards, as well as the contents and release date.
What is Rise of Shadows? This is the new addon for Hearthstone. As previously confirmed, it focuses on the 5 villains:
- Rafaam (Warlock)
- Dr. Boom (Warrior)
- Hagatha (Shaman)
- Togwaggle (Rogue)
- as well as the Oracle Madame Lazul (Priest).
The first villainous act is likely to be an attack on the city of Dalaran. In this, the supervillains will face the defenders of Dalaran, who have not been revealed yet.
When is the release of Rise of Shadows? The new addon is set to be released on April 9th. You can already pre-order card packs.
There is a package with 50 card packs, one legendary card, and one card back for 49.99 euros. For 79.99 euros, you get 80 packs and Lazul as a new hero.
The contents of Rise of Shadows
What’s included in the new addon? Rise of Shadows will bring 135 cards, new mechanics, and a new minion type:
- New minion type – Lackey: Lackeys are simple 1/1 minions and each villain has their own. They all have Battlecries that benefit their master.
- New mechanic – Plans: Plans are one of the new gameplay mechanisms of the addon. Plans grow stronger in your hand with each round. Plans are also assigned to the respective villains.
- New mechanic – Twin Spells: Twin Spells are similar to Echo Spells. After casting the spell, you get a copy in your hand. Only this copy is then finally consumed when you recast it.
- Beginning of a new story: Rise of Shadows begins the Year of the Dragon, a year-long storyline in Hearthstone. Therefore, approximately one month after the release of the addon, the single-player campaign will be added.
