In the action MMO Conqueror’s Blade, Season 2 started on Thursday. We at MeinMMO spoke with the developers about innovations, the biggest hurdles for beginners, and the feedback on Steam.
What is Conqueror’s Blade? The MMO is a mix of action RPG and strategy game. You take on the role of a commander in battle and command a unit alongside.
You can train and upgrade this unit before a battle. The same applies to your character, as you distribute attribute points, equip gear, or change weapons, which in turn affects your entire playstyle.
Conqueror’s Blade is free to play and offers a shop with cosmetic content. The focus of the game is on the great medieval battles and the mix of strategy and action combat system. This has already convinced our author Jürgen Horn.
Why is it worth it right now? On December 19, Season 2 started in Conqueror’s Blade. It brought new units and new maps that are as unknown to veterans as they are to newcomers or returners.
Moreover, there were improvements that benefit beginners. Units are no longer injured or completely removed in the first missions and they can be leveled up much faster. The matchmaking has also been improved.
These changes, however, only complement what the developer Booming Games already started in the fall. There were significant adjustments for newcomers that have also helped the game achieve better ratings on Steam.
Conqueror’s Blade has noticeably improved since release
What has changed since release? The action MMO was released on June 4, 2019 and has already received new and major updates since then. In the fall, there was a pre-patch for Season 1 that included a major overhaul of the tutorial. New players can since then:
- Experience additional stages in the tutorial
- Try all available weapons
- Learn more about units and skills
- Independently choose which units accompany them in the tutorial.
However, connectivity and server problems, balancing, and many other issues were already adjusted in the fall. Much of this was done based on player feedback, Jacek Pudlik, the new producer of Conqueror’s Blade, revealed to us:
We review our ratings daily. Once the balanced reviews came out, we focused on identifying the major issues and fixing them with the developers. [..]
The ratings have gone up lately and we are happy that we were able to implement player feedback.
How are the changes being received? Reviews have noticeably improved since the pre-Season 1 in September. While the rating since release stands at 64% positive reviews, the MMO has received 86% positive ratings with 720 reviews since November 1.
What is being praised? Since November, the following points have received praise:
- The better balance compared to before
- The better onboarding than before
- Almost no technical issues
Additionally, there is praise for the good graphics, the excellent combat system, and the fair shop. However, these points have hardly changed since release.
What is being criticized? Criticism still exists for the matchmaking from level 30. After that, players are thrown into a pool with all other players, leading to unbalanced battles against veterans. However, the developers are already working on it:
We are currently working on various matchmaking options. We are aware of the problems and will try to provide some solutions during Season II.
Another issue in reviews was the grind for new units. This problem has already been addressed by the new patch for Season 2, but producer Jacek Pudlik emphasized to MeinMMO that feedback is still being monitored and additional changes may occur.
This is new in Conqueror’s Blade
What did Season 2 bring? The new Season 2 brought a lot of innovations, including:
- 6 new units that you can earn in-game through challenges and not buy with currency.
- 3 new battlefields. Allenburg as new siege, Emerald River for 15v15, and Cliff Duel as a deathmatch map.
- New weekly challenges.
- A new feature for saveable army strategies.
- A new battle pass.
Additionally, there were many balance changes that will be listed in a separate post in the coming week.
What are the new units like? The new units are referred to as “Sons of the Steppe” and are modeled after the Mongolian Empire. They include:
- Namkhan Archers – Archers who are not mounted.
- Tsereg – Assault infantry
- Selemchid Riders – Known for fast flanking attacks.
- Khorchins – Mounted ranged fighters
- Khevtuulen Riders – Both mounted archers and swordsmen.
- Keshigen – Elite heavy cavalry and the terror of their enemies.
You can earn them in-game through challenges, which are not just tied to Season 2. When the season ends, you can continue to unlock the new units.

Preparation for Ranked Matches: The start of Season 2 also serves as preparation for a new competitive feature. Ranked matches are set to come in 2020, allowing players to compare their skills even better.
Details on how the system will look like and when it will be released should be announced soon.
What are the further plans for Conqueror’s Blade? Besides the ranking system, the alliance system is also a focus for the near future. During Season 2, territorial battles are set to begin, where four factions will fight against each other.
2020 is expected to be a good year for Conqueror’s Blade according to Jacek Pudlik. A roadmap with the exact content is set to be released soon.
