If you are a Battlefield 5 player confused by roadmap changes and missed or postponed deadlines for content and features, you are not alone. The developers are affected by it too. What is going on?
This is what it is about: In a post on the discussion platform Reddit, a user inquired about content promised by the official roadmap for the current Chapter 4, which is still pending. Specifically, it was about new vehicles and gadgets. The fan referred to this statement:
What is the confusion about? Subsequently, Battlefield Community Manager Jeff Braddock commented in the thread. He had raised the question with the developers, and they responded with the words: “What are you talking about?”
When he showed them the corresponding image, they said: “That’s wrong. The next big influx of vehicles and gadgets will come with the Pacific (in the next chapter).”
What was the reason? Braddock also spoke about the reason for the confusion. The community manager added: “This is not the current roadmap. But let’s be honest. Even our ‘current’ roadmap is not accurate at this point anymore.” He referred to the latest version of the roadmap – even though some points have already been missed.
The old excerpt still promises the vehicles and gadgets, but these are no longer on the current roadmap. However, it seems that many players have not noticed this. And that causes frustration not only among the fans.
This is what the developers say: The developers themselves are also annoyed by this circumstance. Braddock reports about his conversation with the responsible developer: “He is frustrated by the inaccuracy of the specific chapter roadmap and takes it to his bosses and studio management. And I am bringing it to the marketing team to find out why this information even existed.”
Because the article with which the old roadmap was published did not mention vehicles and gadgets at all, but only about weapons and elites. There is apparently not really clarity within the studio about when which content should come, which ultimately contributed to the whole confusion.
What does this mean for the players? To clarify possible confusion – specifically, this means: You can expect the new weapons and gadgets in the autumn – with Chapter 5, which will bring the Pacific scenario into the game. They will not be released as part of Chapter 4.
