Funcom has addressed some player questions regarding the upcoming survival online role-playing game Conan Exiles and has clearly rejected Pay2Win.
It is still unclear how Conan Exiles will be monetized. However, the developers do not intend to offer monthly subscription fees or microtransactions. This means a clear rejection of Pay2Win by the team. No one can purchase any advantages in the game for money. The developers will announce more details at a later date. Currently, the “Buy2Play” model is trending.
Stories play a role
When asked about the comparison between the RPG and Ark: Survival Evolved, the team explains that melee combat is at the forefront in Conan Exiles. Furthermore, they want to focus on players experiencing small stories and learning more about the lore, which will become profound. However, one should not expect a story-based RPG like Mass Effect. Mounts are not planned for now, but religion plays an important role. This allows access to magic, which will not be included in the early access.
With the serfdom system, one can hold slaves who perform various tasks. During exploration, you will also encounter many animals, but not all of them will attack you. Up to 70 players can probably play simultaneously on each server. However, it is not ruled out that this number will be increased later. On your private servers, you can set specific rules, for example, that bases of players who are currently offline cannot be attacked. You will communicate with other players via chat, although the team is not yet sure how they will implement this for the console version .
Early Access is set to last a maximum of one year
Your hero will improve through leveling up. Stealth also plays an important role, and there are no loading times in the game. The early access version, which starts on January 31, 2017, for PC and later for Xbox One, is expected to last no longer than one year. Regularly, new content like mounts and magic will be integrated. The developers are aiming for an age rating of 18 years. By the way, Conan Exiles has nothing to do with Age of Conan. The MMORPG is being supported by a different team.
