The survival MMO Conan Exiles (PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4) will soon be released. To celebrate, the developers at Funcom have created some funny trailers that show the barbarian Conan fighting with the challenges of modern technology.
What is it about? Conan Exiles is a rough survival MMO set in the world of the desert barbarian Conan. The brutal sandbox was in Early Access for over a year, but on May 8, 2018, the game is officially set to release for PC (Steam), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The developers have produced a few funny live-action trailers.
“What would Conan do in our world?”
In Conan Exiles, you experience the world of the “Hyborean Age” of Conan. This era is said to have occurred according to Conan author Robert E. Howard even before the known history. It was a rough and brutal time. Only strong fighters, ruthless sorcerers, and cunning individuals could prevail.
The three trailers for Conan Exiles revolve around this theme. Instead of letting a player from the 21st century experience the harsh Conan world, the films place the wild barbarian with sword and loincloth into our world and confront him with various blessings of modern civilization.
“What kind of sorcery is this?”
The trailers deal with the themes of “Building”, “Surviving”, and “Ruling”.
The Ikea torture bench: In the first video, you see how Conan gets to work on crafting something. A stylish Ikea torture bench with the fitting name “Törtur” presents the barbarian with some challenges.
Death to the vacuum cleaner! Next, the barbarian encounters his worst enemy in the daily struggle for survival against dust and dirt: dark sorcery in the form of a beeping vacuum cleaner robot! Luckily, a sharp sword helps against any form of black magic!
“Die, demonic aircraft” In Conan’s world, giant flying creatures are rarely friendly. This is something a poor airplane must experience, which has found itself on the runway of the grim barbarian. “I fear you not, bird-demon” the muscle-bound warrior shouts bravely to the aircraft before he slices the plane in half with a mighty blow and brings it down.
Are you better off in his world?
The conclusion from Conan’s excursion into the 21st century: a botched torture bench, a broken vacuum cleaner, and a crashed airplane. Conan has much to learn. On May 8, you will then have the opportunity to do it better the other way around.
In Conan Exiles, you will then explore the new biomes of swamp and volcano and build fortresses that even wild barbarian hordes and angry gods cannot defeat.
