A new update in Conan Exiles was supposed to fix many issues, but is currently causing frustration among players. They cannot play at the moment, even though it should be better now.
What is this update? Today, Tuesday, June 16th, the survival MMO Conan Exiles received a new update for PC. This was supposed to bring various improvements, including:
- better performance
- fixing exploits
- the “Funcom Live Service” system
- various bug fixes, including those for the new, more direct controls for slaves
Additionally, the controversial anti-cheat program Denuvo has been removed. It has been criticized by many players because it has many permissions on PCs. This has raised security concerns and spyware allegations, most recently with DOOM Eternal (via GameStar).
The highlight of the update is the “Funcom Live Service”. This is supposed to improve gameplay and provide a better connection to the servers. In the official patch notes in the forum, it states: “This [feature] includes functionality for an in-game friends list and improvements for the server browser.”

This is the problem: However, this update is currently causing the server browser to malfunction. Anyone trying to find a server right now encounters a blank list that endlessly attempts to refresh.
This applies to both official servers and servers rented by players that should be found through the browser. Neither PvE, PvP, nor conflict servers are currently discoverable.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the offline mode has not been functioning for quite a while, as US site PCGamer reports. PC players have thus been unable to play at all for some time.
However, our test showed that at least the single-player/coop mode worked. According to a statement in the subreddit of Conan Exiles, the developers are currently working on a solution. We cannot yet say when exactly the problem will be fixed.
What about PS4 and Xbox One? This update currently only affects PC. For Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it is expected to be released later this week. However, players on PS4 had already complained about similar issues, which were supposed to be fixed with a hotfix yesterday, on June 15th.
Despite the technical issues, Conan Exiles is considered one of the best survival games of 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Since its early access phase in 2017 and its release in 2018, Conan Exiles has been receiving regular updates and new content such as cosmetics or, most recently, mounted combat horses.
