A new update makes Conan Exiles even bigger and brings new features. However, fans of animal companions will have to wait a bit longer.
New dungeon and hunger system: With the “Conan Exiles” update from October 4th, you have access to the new dungeon “Midnight Grove”. In addition, your slaves now have hunger and require food.
The new features: The “Midnight Grove” and hunger
The Midnight Grove: The new dungeon “Midnight Grove” is a large maze for higher-level players. The dungeon is designed for multiple players and you will face four bosses:
- a giant panther
- a gorilla
- a bull with iron-tipped horns
- and the champion of Jhebbal Sag
To access the dungeon, you must find and drink a “Potion of Midnight”. You will then be teleported directly to the dungeon. You can learn how to get the potion in our guide to the “Midnight Grove”.
This loot is available in Midnight Grove: At the bosses of the Midnight Grove, you will receive shadow flowers, which allow you to craft new food that strengthens your animal companions. They increase the chance that the animal becomes stronger. The animal companion system is, however, not yet implemented.
At the final boss of the dungeon, the champion of Jhebbal Sag, you will also find the “Meat of Memory” if you harvest it with a tool. If you consume the meat, you will learn the first step of the new religion of Jhebbal Sag and can build its shrine.
The meat decays quite quickly, so you should consume it immediately.
Hunger system for slaves: As part of the companion system, all companions should get hungry and require food to avoid starvation. This applies to the upcoming animal companions and to slaves.
You can feed slaves with anything edible. A well-fed slave should be able to go a week without food before they become hungry again. Whether they die immediately or just have less health points when hungry depends on the settings. If you give them their preferred food, they even receive buffs for combat.
So you don’t have to feed every slave individually, there is a “Servants’ Pot”. In this pot, you can place food to automatically supply the slaves. The food in the pot decays slower and is distributed evenly.
Via server options, which are disabled by default, you can set that slaves and companions need their specific food or don’t need to be fed at all. This way, you can make the system a bit more interesting.
Xbox coming later: Currently, the new patch is only playable on PC and PS4. For Xbox One, the update usually comes a few days later. You can find the full patch notes in English on Steam.
