The upcoming survival RPG Conan Exiles is set in the dark fantasy world created by author Robert E. Howard. In the game, you explore the land of the damned, which has a deep history.
Your adventures in Conan Exiles begin as a criminal waiting to die on the cross, but you are rescued by Conan the Barbarian. You flee into the land of the damned, a harsh area filled with dangers and monsters. But this land also has a story that you can learn about during your adventures.
Everywhere you find traces of an ancient civilization that once ruled this area. Ruins, decaying towers, and once magnificent bridges testify that this civilization was highly developed.
The story of a fallen civilization
Many statues buried in the sand depict insect-like humanoids, and you may wonder if these were the former rulers of this land. What happened to them? Why did their civilization fall?
You can find clues about their history everywhere, and their once-mighty magic can still be felt, keeping some guardians “alive.” You will trace the ghosts of the past and hear voices from a long-forgotten time speaking to you. This way, you will gather more information about this culture and slowly uncover the secrets of the rich lore.
Explore the mysteries
In the center of the land, you find the Nameless City, apparently the former capital of this civilization. Horrifying monsters dwell there, and countless dangers await you. However, you will also find many treasures in the underground chambers and uncover ancient secrets. But only the mightiest among you should venture there.
But dangers also await you in other parts of the land, such as the Yog-worshipping Darfari cannibals, thieves, and pirates. Wild beasts lurk in the caves, and horrors await you in the mines and temples that will freeze the blood in your veins.
Always proceed with caution. For if you come into contact with dark magic or demonic or undead creatures, the corruption will slowly spread within you, corrupting and destroying you. But you will experience all of this yourself when the PC version of Conan Exiles enters early access on January 31.
