If you think of Conan, you inevitably think of the epic music by artist Basil Poledouris from the film Conan the Barbarian. In the upcoming survival RPG Conan: Exiles, a similarly bombastic soundtrack is expected.
Since Basil Poledouris unfortunately passed away in 2006, Funcom had to rely on a different composer for the MMORPG Age of Conan. Knut Avenstroup Haugen took on this role and created music that not only pays homage to the Conan soundtrack by Basil Poledouris but also has been able to fully convince the players. Among the top 20 most popular MMO soundtracks according to MassivelyOP, the music for the MMORPG even reached first place!
An Epic Soundtrack
Knut Avenstroup Haugen is also back on board for Conan Exiles. Funcom released a first sample track from the survival game, composed by him.
This is unmistakably the music that perfectly fits Conan. Bombastic, epic, and captivating, the track immediately evokes the feeling of being in the dark and brutal world of the barbarian. This strongly suggests that the soundtrack will enhance the atmosphere of Conan Exiles and create exactly the right mood to crush enemies and chain slaves to the wheel of pain. Just take a listen:

Conan Exiles will launch into early access on January 31, 2017 – but initially only on PC. Owners of an Xbox One will have to wait until spring. And those playing on a PlayStation 4 will have to wait for the online game’s release. Sony does not support early access phases. PC players will be exploring the game world by the end of January, building their own settlements, taking slaves and forcing them to work, and fighting against other players in PvP as well as enemies and monsters that roam the wilderness.
