Since the last update on April 17, players can no longer obtain Ice Shards in Conan Exiles. This is very frustrating as upgrading the Temple of Ymir is required. The cause is a bug.
The massive update for Conan Exiles last Thursday attracted many players. Along with improvements to the combat system and many new features, changes were also made to the religions.
Many players have reported since the patch that they can no longer collect Ice Shards. However, without Ice Shards, the Temple of Ymir cannot be upgraded.
If you are playing on a private or official server, you have surely noticed this problem as well. The reason is a bug in the religions, which currently makes all beliefs unplayable – it is known, and the developers are working on it.
Where do I get Ice Shards?
Ice Shards are a part of the religion of Ymir. When they were introduced with the “Frozen North” expansion, Ice Shards could be obtained by cutting down trees with the Frostbite Axe or the Blessed Frostbite Axe.
Since the last update, this is no longer the case. To align this religion with the other religions that all require human sacrifices, you now only obtain Ice Shards by slaughtering humans with the Frostbite Axe!
As with the resources of the other religions, you only get one shard from each corpse you harvest for Ice Shards. The religion of Ymir is not supposed to have such a large advantage over the other religions.
Why am I no longer receiving Ice Shards?
The big problem now is: human corpses cannot be harvested at the moment! On private and public servers, slaughtering humans is not possible. Only in single-player/coop games can resources from humans be harvested.
This issue has already been discussed multiple times in the official forums. The developers have become aware of it and are working on a solution – whether this will be available before the release on May 8 remains to be seen.
Update: The patch on April 27 has fixed this issue, corpses can now be harvested again!
If you still want to try out the religions in the meantime, your only options are free play – or politely ask the server admin. As an admin, you can easily summon all resources to your inventory – including Ice Shards.
