Penises in Conan Exiles remain one of the top topics in the survival MMO. At GDC 2017, Funcom CEO Joe Bylos presented further concepts that they still have in mind regarding the anatomy.
Joe Bylos, Creative Director at Funcom, spoke at GDC 2017 about many innovations in Conan Exiles, including the upcoming sieges, mounts, sorcery and of course penises! Whether someone had asked him a question about it – like in the case of a colleague from PCGamer – or not, Bylos seemed fascinated by the topic.
Conan Exiles – Penises – “Women think it’s long overdue, men find it funny”
According to Bylos, almost everyone wanted to talk to him about penises at GDC. “I think I’ll be known forever as the “penis guy,”” he remarked at the end of the PCGamer interview. The penises in Conan Exiles weren’t originally planned to be a “big thing.” They were just there, and no one expected the later prominence of the topic.
“I thought it would be good for a few laughs for five minutes,” Bylos said. “We thought maybe a few people would enjoy that and make use of full nudity. But then all the big streamers on Twitch suddenly started running around with exposed genitals.”
Meanwhile, it seems that very few people are upset about the penises. “Women probably think it’s long overdue for men to have a slider [for penis size] and men find it hilarious. It’s all good.”
Conan Exiles – The Future of the Penis
Since the swinging masculinity in Conan Exiles is so popular, Bylos wants to incorporate even more penis content in the future. For example, swinging anatomy currently does not have its own hitbox. They are more like a piece of clothing that cannot be specifically targeted.
Since other games with penis content (such as Rust) have hitboxes for genitals, this could easily be possible in Conan Exiles as well.
Bylos still wants to incorporate castrations into the game. His previous statement on the topic in an AMA thread on Reddit was quite serious. He envisions a trophy system: “If you kill someone, you can click on the corpse and select ‘Harvest Trophy’ to receive an ear, a penis, a foot, or a hand. But it won’t always be a penis, especially not with female corpses.”
According to Bylos, trophies obtained this way could be used to create decorations or jewelry. “I want to allow people to create a necklace made of penises that they can wear. Why not? That’s funny!”
