In a forum post, Funcom announced that Conan Exiles will not have a Christmas event in 2018. Instead, fans will receive a new DLC with an Asia theme. The DLC “Seekers of the Dawn” also brings brand new weapons.
This is what to expect: Funcom released a new DLC for Conan Exiles on December 12. For €9.99, you can get the “Seekers of the Dawn” pack (here’s the link to the Steam store). The expansion takes you to the Japan-inspired kingdom of Yamatai.
There will be no event at Christmas, as there was for Halloween. The issues and feedback from Halloween has made the studio a bit more cautious.
Halloween did not go well in Conan Exiles: The event suffered from many bugs.
Japan DLC instead of Christmas spirit
That’s why there will be no Christmas event: In a forum post, community director Tascha explained why there will be no Christmas event in 2018. The main reason is that the team does not feel prepared for it:
We have heard that some of you want a Christmas event and we would have loved to create one. However, we have learned from the mistakes of Halloween and would prefer to have a few more tools before we start a new event.
Furthermore, we are currently working 100% on implementing really necessary improvements as in the patch that will be coming to the test servers in the coming weeks.
They do not want to risk splitting their work with an event, despite new people. However, interest in events is high and the team is eager to implement more events in the future.
This is what the Yamatai DLC brings: The Japan DLC, like all previous DLCs, contains cosmetic items. With the gameplay improvements and new features, the “Seekers of the Dawn” pack brings several new skins.
As already seen in the first DLC “Realm in the East” and in the second DLC “Jewel of the West”, you will receive new skins for building parts and new war paints. Additionally, there are armor sets for level 10 and the endgame (level 60) in the classes light, medium, and heavy.
There are also skins for the new animal companions in Conan Exiles. Skins for pets were already available in the last DLC, “Wild Borderlands.” You can give some of your companions a total of five new skins:
- Saber-tooths
- Tigers
- Alligators
In keeping with the Japanese look, there are also new skins for weapons, including for the new katanas. Katanas are one-handed swords with a unique fighting style that focuses on quick attacks and lunges.
