Shortly after the launch of the survival MMO Conan Exiles, Funcom immediately brings more servers online. The number has roughly doubled. However, there is trouble, as Funcom is eliminating one of the three server types.
New servers. Conan Exiles has sold over a million copies since its launch. The influx of players to the servers upon release on May 8 fully loaded most official servers. Most of the servers were instantly full, so some players didn’t even get a chance to play on them.
During the night of May 9 to 10, Funcom worked to bring more servers online for Conan Exiles. Around 12 noon European time on May 10, the new servers for PC and PS4 went online.
The servers are spread across all regions. Europe, the USA, and Asia now have new locations for players to game.
During the night we rolled out the following PC (1000-series) and PS4 (3000-series) servers in Europe and North America (se pictures below): pic.twitter.com/1iFLdg6Drl

Conflict servers are eliminated – players have been looted
One server type is being eliminated. PvE conflict servers are servers where players can attack each other only at certain times of the day. PvP is only active during “prime time” between 5 PM and 11 PM server time. Player bases are off-limits and can never be attacked. Otherwise, the servers function like PvE servers, where players play peacefully together.
PvE conflict servers were only available for PC and were supposed to be brought to consoles if they perform well. However, Funcom has now decided differently and has converted all conflict servers into regular PvP servers.
Some fans are unhappy with this decision. Players complain that they built PvE bases on the conflict servers, and they were suddenly looted overnight by others. This was supposed to be excluded. Bases were supposed to be safe.
Especially on Steam, the players’ reactions are reflected. Most of the negative reviews in recent days criticize the decision to eliminate conflict servers.
We’ve had an incredible 24 hours so far and we’re rolling out new servers for you guys as they come online! From today we’re also switching the PvE-Conflict servers over to be PvP servers, to free up even more PvP server space.https://t.co/vq9hzhzKsw

The rush for PvP was too big
Barbarians love PvP. PvP servers are servers where players can kill each other at any time without regard. The rush for this server type was so great at release that some players resorted to PvE or PvE conflict servers.
Funcom thus decided to temporarily close conflict servers and turn them into PvP servers. Furthermore, most of the new servers are PvP servers to meet player demand.
Whether the conflict servers will return is not yet known. The servers were reportedly too unpopular and did not carry enough players to be considered currently. However, the demand for PvP servers is so great that they will likely take priority.
UPDATE: In a statement shortly after the strong criticism of the approach, Funcom confirmed that new conflict servers will go live. According to the developers, the new conflict servers are supposed to start before the weekend!
