What will the upcoming survival MMORPG Conan Exiles look like? The developers provide a small insight.
The world in which the survival game Conan Exiles takes place must capture the look that Robert E. Howard’s books create in the minds of readers. This look has already been depicted in many images of Conan, comics, films, and also in the MMORPG Age of Conan. Now Funcom demonstrates with initial artworks how Conan Exiles will look.
Developers Present Graphic Assets
Two images have been released showing rock formations and parts of buildings. The developers explain that this is just a fraction of the assets that are currently being created for the game. The focus is currently on finishing the desert area, which will be the landscape that can be explored in the early access to the MMO. However, more biomes will follow later, so the artists and model creators still have plenty of work ahead of them.
Everything Consists of Individual Parts
The developers explain that landscapes and buildings consist of smaller individual parts. A building, for example, can be assembled from various parts, which has the advantage that each building can look unique. Not only basic parts but also more complex ones are used. This method aims to create a believable landscape, and places and buildings will also have very special defense mechanisms. After all, places are constantly under attack, whether from other players or from NPCs from neighboring kingdoms.
Recently, the developers of the MMORPG Conan Exiles saved about some game elements and revealed, for example, that there will be no skills and that the combat will be very active and brutal.
Conan Exiles is set to enter early access for PC in the summer. Versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are also planned.
