Conan Exiles was on the brink for a while. Now it has almost as many players as ever and is among the most played titles on Steam.
Conan Exiles is one of the most played games on Steam: In the past week, Conan Exiles made it back into the top 10 of the most played games on Steam. It is at a level it hasn’t seen in over a year.
Nearly 50,000 players are playing Conan Exiles on Steam
More than 49,000 players played Conan Exiles simultaneously on May 13. The game only saw a higher value shortly after its early access release in January 2017. Back then, it reached a peak of 53,000 players.
Since these numbers only reflect Steam players, the players from Xbox One and PS4 are not yet accounted for. The console versions were not available during early access. It is therefore highly likely that Conan Exiles has even broken its record.
Conan Exiles has apparently recovered from its slump between early access and release. After the peak in January 2017, the game lost almost 95% of its players and was on the verge of dying.
Close to being out, now in top form: With so few players, the game has been on the brink several times. Developer Funcom, however, put all their efforts into Conan Exiles to secure their existence with the survival MMO.
Successfully: Conan Exiles sold over a million copies even before its official release on May 8. The rush on the servers on the first day was so great that they were not enough to accommodate all players. Funcom soon had to add more servers.
New Conan game already in planning: While Conan Exiles was still in development, Funcom already talked about their plans for afterward. The game studio is already planning a new game in the Conan universe. However, Conan Exiles should be finished first.
Now that Conan Exiles is released, Funcom wants to continue focusing on the survival hit. The game is to be supported for a long time. Only when enough resources are freed up should the new Conan game go into development.
