After the announcement that Destiny 2 will put the Tangled Shore into the Content Vault, players were only moderately enthusiastic. While Spider’s black market trade is still thriving, let’s be honest: the Tangled Shore is the new Mercury. If you don’t want to miss anything later, you should take some time for the location until February 2022. We reveal to you the five best reasons for it.
Bungie has announced that at the launch of “The Witch Queen”, the Tangled Shore and a few missions will be moved to the Destiny 2 Content Vault. Of course, it’s a popular location. Destiny 2 players are reluctant to let it go. They have experienced a lot there, and the locations are very closely linked to that.
Especially in the Forsaken campaign, the Tangled Shore was the main destination:
- Players cleared the Prison of Elders with Petra Venj and Cayde-6 in Forsaken in the Tangled Shore.
- Uldren Sov has become the major antagonist in the Tangled Shore. Not only because he created the Scorn faction in the Tangled Shore, with the help of the Barons. He was also the murderer of Cayde-6.
- They knelt there in his last moments next to Cayde-6, the most beloved character in Destiny 2. Most Destiny 2 players will never forget that.
- To avenge Cayde-6, players hunted and killed all the Scorn Barons in the Tangled Shore.
Nevertheless, the fate of the Tangled Shore is a done deal. Spider’s black market paradise will disappear from Destiny 2 indefinitely starting in February 2022.
We have listed five things you can still do in the Tangled Shore:
1. Experience the Best Campaign of Destiny 2 with Forsaken
The Forsaken campaign, which tells the story of Cayde-6’s murder, is both one of the best and saddest experiences players can have in Destiny 2. It tells the story of two heroes. One abandoned by his sister, misled by a Witch Queen/Riven, and ready for anything. The other a cool guy, who lost a bet, is not at a loss for a witty remark and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
That’s why Forsaken is so important for the story:
- Especially in the current Season 15, the knowledge of the backgrounds of Uldren Sov and Cayde-6 is more than relevant.
- How did Uldren Sov actually become Crow? Why is he the major enemy? And why is his face a double-edged sword for many Guardians?
- Those who want to understand this should definitely play the Forsaken campaign.
- And of course, because the entire story of the hero and anti-hero is packed in a captivating narrative.
Free for all players until February 2022: To experience the Forsaken story, there is no need to purchase the expansion. Especially if you started playing Destiny 2 later, this will answer some players’ questions about Crow’s past. And also, Cayde-6 will reaffirm his status as the coolest gunslinger.
Bungie is bringing the campaign back for free for all players on December 7, 2021. You can fully play through the story until it goes into the Content Vault in February 2022. However, you will not have free access to the Forsaken raid “Last Wish” or the dungeon “The Shattered Throne.”
2. Visit the Lost Sector “Empty Tank”
Destiny 2 has various lost sectors in the game. Inside, there are a few extra enemies and a boss guarding a loot chest. With the selectable difficulty levels on Legend and Grandmaster, they have become relevant again. Only there can players obtain the new Season Exotics. Starting tonight at 7 PM, there will also be Haunt sectors to explore as long as the Festival of the Lost is being celebrated.
Even Fallen want to relax: In the Tangled Shore, there is a Lost Sector that is unique in its own way. It’s the “Empty Tank” sector, whose hidden entrance you can find a bit further right next to the entrance of Spider’s hideout.
Admittedly, you have to take a closer look. However, clever players quickly realize: “Okay, here the enemies have cups and glasses on their heads!”. Those who visit the sector are actually in the middle of a nightclub of the Fallen, and the party is in full swing. It’s a little Easter egg from Bungie.
What players can expect:
- Upon entering the sector, you must first pass by a Fallen bouncer.
- There’s a DJ playing various songs, including the original song “Hope for the Future” by Paul McCartney from Destiny 1.
- Those who go further discover a backroom fight club with imprisoned thralls and Cabal war beasts.
Thematically, this is probably the best sector in the whole game. If you haven’t experienced it yet: definitely check it out.
3. Get the secret badge of the Mindbender
During the Forsaken campaign, players hunt eight Barons. One of them is Hiraks “The Mindbender”. He has created his own throne world in the Ascendant Realm to escape you. Once you defeat him, you can also unlock the badge that will probably never be available again.
Here you can find all the details and a guide on how to unlock the secret badge:
When will the secret badge be available again: When the Forsaken campaign returns on December 7, 2021, the badge will also be available again. Players can then complete their collection with the rare badge.
4. Play the mission “Foreboding”
During the Season of the Chosen, the mission “Foreboding” was also unlocked in the Tangled Shore. Players can earn the exotic scout rifle “Tale of a Dying Man” there. But the mission also has a lot to offer in terms of story.
Spook Factor and Story are Guaranteed: You land on a Cabal ghost ship, the Glykon. It has been occupied by the Scorn, and ominous sounds surround you everywhere. It’s a combination of puzzles and jumping passages, which Bungie has pleasantly surprised its players with.
During the mission, you also receive new information week by week from Osiris, who at that time was already possessed by Savathun. He tells of the fate of the mad Calus, who was sacrificed in search of darkness. As well as about a headstrong and missing Guardian, who found his tragic fate on the Glykon.
Of course, you could also wait until Destiny 2 makes the “Tale of a Dying Man”, the exotic scout rifle, available for purchase at the kiosk. However, the mission is the real treasure.
5. The Wrathborn Hunts: Learn the Story of Crow
After the Forsaken campaign, players will encounter the former enemy who killed the most beloved NPC in Destiny 2 again during the Season of the Hunt.
The now resurrected Uldren Sov has been picked up by Spider in the Tangled Shore and is now his “little birdie”. During the Wrathborn Hunts, you will learn a lot of personal insights about the man Uldren Sov/Crow. You will witness how Crow learns to be a Guardian.
Why is this story particularly important?:
- When players have completed the Forsaken campaign, they also understand why Uldren Sov is not an NPC that players want to see again in Destiny 2. Of course, it was suspected after the little cutscene that Uldren Sov would eventually return. However, it was associated with mixed feelings for many players.
- Destiny 2 challenges its players to exercise a power that goes beyond what almost any engaged online gamer has ever done: to forgive. That is a very special experience that players can make in Destiny 2.
That’s why Spider is now on the Hit List
During the Wrathborn Hunts, it also becomes clear why Spider is on Queen Mara Sov’s hit list.
Spider has made big mistakes:
- He didn’t just pick up Crow, he also exploited him for his purposes.
- If things don’t go his way, the bomb attached to his ghost Glint would take care of it immediately.
- When Mara learns about this in the current Season 15, his fate is actually sealed, and Spider knows it.
Right now, he’s doing everything to escape the queen. How that will go remains to be seen. Spider still has a few months to make a deal with either the Drifter or perhaps even the Witch Queen.
Now it’s your turn: Did you already know all the secrets of the Tangled Shore? Will you play the Forsaken story again in December? Or is this content something that no longer interests you at all?
