It’s Wednesday again! While I am slowly running out of topics again (one could almost say that in the gaming sector everything is more or less okay), a big surprise awaits all gamers this week. The Overwatch beta has started and the first invitations are being sent out. As expected, not everyone who wanted to get into the beta has made it – and that brings us to today’s hook.
Why HIM and not ME?
I can definitely understand that some players were really looking forward to the beta. Expectations were understandably high, and everyone hoped to get access on the first day – which obviously was not the case. The comments under the respective posts are once again hardly to be surpassed in arrogance and idiocy. Almost every second user contribution resembles one of the following examples (usually with significantly more spelling mistakes):

“I signed up for the beta so early, why am I not there?!?”

“OMG, damn Blizzard, I will never play your games again because I didn’t get into the beta.”

“Why is the streamer XYZ in the beta, he only has 15 viewers? I have 18! I demand to get into the beta!!!”

“I am boycotting Blizzard now. It’s outrageous that longtime fans only get access after newcomers.”
There must be a universe where “Participants will be randomly selected” is synonymous with “We hate you, you are not allowed to play.”
I can hardly comprehend it. I always try to imagine these people at a job interview. “Welcome to Blizzard, we are looking for friendly, helpful game testers who will test our products thoroughly -” and before the man can finish, the player throws himself on the ground, pounds wildly with his fists, and screams “I will never buy anything from you again!”
Of course, a beta invitation is not a job interview, but with the countless comments that deal with blunt threats like “I won’t play XYZ anymore,” I can only shake my head. Yes, Blizzard must be desperately looking for testers like you. Understanding, friendly, and reasonable players who give valuable feedback during the testing of a game.
So, my dear continuous screamers: Those who behave like that will certainly not increase their chances of ultimately getting into the beta, should Blizzard decide to “target” to catch up with people. A little more behavior would be nice. Then you wouldn’t have to be ashamed later.
P.S.: By the way, I am also not in the beta yet. So, now it’s out!
