Hearthstone is currently a torment for many players. The reason: Rogues and their damn Un’Goro quest.
I wish you a nice Wednesday afternoon. Have you played some rounds of Hearthstone today? No? Why not? Let me just guess: It’s currently not much fun and rather frustrating because a certain elf with sharp daggers appears in almost every match?
In short: I hate Rogues in Hearthstone. Especially the new questline with the reward “Crystal Core” is, in my opinion, an absolute joke. The Rogue has to play 4 minions with the same name during a game. Essentially, that should be hard since each minion can only be present twice in the deck – however, with all the bounce mechanics of the Rogue, it’s a piece of cake.
The quest is relatively easy to fulfill and ensures that the Rogue plays only with 5/5 minions for the rest of the game. If those are actually 1/1 minions with Charge… you understand where my problem lies. Unless I happen to use a perfect counter deck for that (which I am still looking for), I can basically leave the match after the second turn.
Rogues play their own single-player game
The worst thing for me is that I no longer feel like I’m playing a game against my opponent. It seems like the opponent is just playing alone. No matter what I do – it has no impact on him. The Rogue is basically playing his own game, which makes it impossible for me to intervene in any way. Once a minion necessary for the quest is played, it goes back to the hand in the same turn.
That is not interactive. This is not a “puzzle game,” as the developers of Hearthstone originally envisioned it. Instead, every match deteriorates into a pure prayer that the Rogue draws the wrong cards and isn’t able to complete his quest by turn 4 or 5.
If she succeeds in doing so – which, at least subjectively, happens in most cases – then the three little Charge pigs come and end the game in one turn. Yay. That’s a joy.
Currently, I only log into the game to complete the quests. And honestly, I often lack motivation even for that because every other match is against a quest Rogue.
What luck that I can console myself for now with lots of loot boxes in Heroes of the Storm …
How are you currently doing in Hearthstone? Are you having as much fun against the quest Rogues as I am? Or do you even belong to those players who always play the “Flavor of the Month” deck?
Last week there was a complaint about WoW – there were exactly 7 clicks as a weekly quest.
