A company has disassembled an unofficial PS5 DualSense Controller. Here, for the first time, you can see the features and the battery.
Who is behind it? Evzen Elite Technology manufactures various custom controllers, including a DualShock 4 controller and an upgrade kit. The manufacturer describes itself as a “specialist in high-performance controllers” (via Evzen-Elite.com).
Evzen Elite has now posted on Instagram how they disassembled the unofficial DualSense controller:
For the first time, you can see what the new controller actually looks like from the inside.
Gameplay with the DualSense: In action, the controller could already be seen earlier, as journalist Geoff Keighly had the opportunity to test the PS5 DualSense controller during the Summer Game Fest 2020:
PS5 DualSense Teardown Shows Features of the New Controller
This is what you see on the outside: Some things that can be seen were already known beforehand:
- You can clearly see the USB-C port in the pictures, which replaces the Micro-USB port of the DualShock 4.
- The pictures also show the surface of the controller, which is designed for better grip.
This is what you see on the inside:
- At the bottom, you can also recognize the USB-C port that was seen on another picture from the outside.
- The thumbsticks of the controller are firmly connected to the (green) circuit board like in the DualShock 4 and are very similar in construction to the thumbsticks of the DualShock 4.
- It is also noticeable that the black front panel, in which the thumbsticks are seated, can also be removed.
- One of the photos also shows us the adaptive triggers. The adaptive triggers are supposed to provide a particularly intense gaming experience with their haptic feedback (via GamePro.de). The controller can block the R2 triggers to indicate that the weapon is jammed. And games like Horizon Forbidden West are also expected to utilize the adaptive triggers for simulating firearms.
- The built-in microphone can be recognized on the circuit board as a small rectangular (white) box.

PS5 games only work with the DualSense: Sony also explained why the DualShock controller does not work with PS5 games: For the new features of PS5 games, you need the PS5 DualSense controller absolutely.
