The most famous VTuber in the world, Kizune AI, announces in a new video that she wants to create NFTs. But what is that exactly, and why should fans of Kizune be cautious? MeinMMO author Kevin Willing addresses the issue.
Who is Kizune AI? This YouTube channel is not a normal person. Rather, it features an animated anime girl in front of the camera. She mimics human movements, speaks, and even interacts with her community. To date, the VTuber has garnered around 3.1 million fans. But what defines the content and a VTuber?

VTuber Kizune AI sells NFT art: What is behind it?
What does the VTuber plan? In an announcement video, Kizune AI informed her approximately 3.1 million fans that she is working on creating amazing NFTs. These are actually already in progress and are set to be released after her concert “Hello World 2022.” She announces her art with the following words:
I believe you have heard a lot about the Metaverse and NFTs lately. It sounds complicated, but also new and fun at the same time! (…) I want to bring experiences closer to other people and create new fun experiences. I want to be more a part of everyone’s daily life.
Admittedly, the last sentence evokes my “Hal 9000” childhood trauma. Luckily, there are still real people behind Kizune AI — plural. So Kizune does not create the NFTs herself, how could she?
Behind her show is a whole team of 3-D artists, several editors, and video editors, as well as a voice actress. The Kizune does not actually exist.
Nevertheless: Her art exists or rather will exist. However, the VTuber or the team behind her has not yet expressed any concrete plans. In what form the NFTs will appear is, therefore, still unknown.
Price and Release – When does it start? A release date and price for Kizune AI’s digital art have already been announced.
She states that it will be released on February 26, 2022. Those interested will then be able to shell out around €1,000 in the form of cryptocurrency Ethereum.
What are NFTs and can you make money with them?
NFT art (Non-Fungible Token) often consists of portraits, drawings, or other artworks that are available only in limited editions. Music or videos can also be “tokenized” and are thus unique.
People can still copy the works, but as with great art, there is only one original and many copies. The information about the authenticity of NFTs is stored on the blockchain (what is a blockchain? via wikipedia.de).
Currently, hardly anyone can escape the topic of NFTs. Many YouTubers are launching their own art projects and selling them to their fans. They often dive into it, even though the price bubble is filled to bursting. For instance, a user paid around $12 million for this curiosity:
How someone earns money with it should already be clear. The unique works are offered on various marketplaces online and can be purchased with cryptocurrencies. Conversely, the same is true. Customers can also offer the art they have purchased for resale.
