In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can customize your profile to a certain extent. A player from Japan is using this opportunity for a heartfelt cause that is now touching part of the community.
What can be customized in the profile? The hunter profile in Monster Hunter Wilds is somewhat like your business card. There you can not only immortalize your hero, their Palico companion, and their Saikrii mount against a fancy background, but you can also display various statistics, achievements, and even personal comments.
How has the Japanese player used this? Currently, a screenshot is circulating on Reddit showing part of a Japanese player’s profile. Specifically, the kill statistics for eight monsters and a message from the player are visible.
For those who cannot read Japanese, one detail will probably stand out: The Semi-Elder Gore Magala, a particularly impressive monster from MHW, has already been defeated 405 times. The other seven displayed monsters only had to meet their demise between 3 to 70 times.

How is the community reacting? So far, the post has garnered over 9,700 upvotes and 330 comments. This is not only due to the unusually high encounters with Gore Magala, but also because of the heartfelt profile message.
- PomeloReasonable3950 translates the message on Reddit: “Mama, I love you very much. Please take care of me.” He also explains: “It is the sweet message of the player to his mother, who passed away earlier this year.”
- pakkieressaberesojaj adds on Reddit: “It must definitely be a borderline situation or someone has passed away. Japanese people usually do not use this verb for ‘I love you’ unless the person is in a very bad situation.”

Later, the author of the lines spoke out himself. SayuriHideyoshi writes on Reddit: “Wow, this is a bit embarrassing. That is actually me. Yes, my mother passed away this year. I placed this text there to still feel connected to her in games with signatures/comments on my profile and in my Discord.”
Furthermore, the player explains that he has so many kills of Gore Magala because he regularly helps others take down the beast. The monster had surprised him twice, which is why he developed a strategy with which he feels quite comfortable in the fight against Magala. He is now using this to make it easier for others to fight.
Finally, SayuriHideyoshi writes: “Anyway, thanks for the love, Reddit.
