Does the name Infantry Online ring a bell? This MMO shooter, which was even published by Sony Online Entertainment, was released in 1999. The game was discontinued some time ago but has now made a comeback.
Rumored dead live longer, they say. And this is evident in the online game Infantry Online, which has been revived by fans after six years in obscurity.
A classic returns!
What is Infantry Online: In 1999, the developer studio Harmless eGames LLC released an online shooter played from a top-down perspective. Players ventured through several zones and had to confront their enemies either on foot as a soldier, in a vehicle, or in a spaceship.
In addition, players could choose to fight together against AI enemies like zombies and aliens or against each other in various game modes, including Capture the Flag.
In 2000, Sony Online Entertainment took over the distribution of the title and operated it for twelve years until the servers were shut down in 2012.
Fans bring the MMO back: Fans were disappointed and worked on bringing the game back in any way possible. They succeeded this year. Infantry Online is playable for free on its own website and offers the same gameplay as before.

Active participation from old fans: As seen from the league games, there is certainly a lot happening in Infantry Online. Especially fans from the past feel addressed and are excited to indulge in nostalgic memories once again.
