What is a Community Day? Once a month, the Community Day takes place in Pokémon GO. For 6 hours, a Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. A suitable bonus and plenty of Shinys round off the event.
In February, it’s all about Roselia. The Grass and Poison-type Pokémon will be appearing everywhere and can be caught more frequently as Shiny.

As is usual, the Community Day will take place for a full 6 hours this month as well. This allows you to easily catch enough Shinys from home.
What’s in the in-game shop: In this month’s Community Day, there are some special offers in the in-game shop. These include:
- For one euro, there’s a special research task focused on Roselia
- For 1,280 coins, you can buy a box that includes the following items: a Fast TM, 4 incenses, 4 Super Incubators, 30 Ultra Balls
How to Make the Most of Community Day
Make these preparations: Before the Community Day starts, you should stock up on your items. We recommend at least 300 balls. Roselia can be a bit difficult to catch, so you should ideally gather some better balls as well.
Also, make sure to clean out your Pokémon box in advance. This way, you can catch without interruption during the event and don’t have to keep sending Pokémon away.
Lastly, make sure you don’t have any eggs in the incubators before the Community Day. Only when you place the eggs in the incubators at the start of the event, will the distance be quartered. So be sure to utilize this bonus.
Use these items during the event: Hatching Pokémon is especially worthwhile here. So use a few incubators to hatch eggs with short distances. What’s currently in the eggs, you can find out here:

Also, you might consider using Star Pieces during Community Day. The spawns are increased during the event and you could catch numerous Pokémon. With a Star Piece, the Stardust per Pokémon is multiplied by 1.5. So you’ll get at least 150 dust per Pokémon. With the large number of monsters you can catch, it’s definitely worth it.
How to Play Effectively from Home: If you don’t want to or can’t play outside due to the coronavirus crisis, you can also benefit from the event comfortably from home.
The incense is improved and attracts more monsters. Therefore, you can sit on the couch and still catch Roselia diligently.
Should one take advantage of Community Day? Roselia has been available in its shiny form since 2018. Some trainers may already own the Shiny. Other trainers should take advantage of the event if they want to catch Shinys.
Roserade, the evolution of Roselia, is quite useful. It is the best Grass attacker in the game and is definitely worth it. So you can diligently collect candy or even XL candy to power up specimens to maximum level.
However, it should also be mentioned that Roselia has not really been rare so far. Many trainers will likely already have enough candy. So one should weigh whether they actually need more candy.
Shiny Roselia and Roserade
This is how the Shinys look: The differences in the Shiny are mainly noticeable in the flowers that Roselia carries on its arms. In the Shiny form, they have a different color:
What is the chance of a Shiny? The chance of a Shiny Roselia is probably 1 in 25. It has always been like this during Community Days. Normally, this rate is about 1 in 450. So you can look forward to a significantly improved chance.
What do you think about Community Day in February? Will you actively play or rather catch a specimen or two from home? Let us know in the comments!
