In Pokémon GO, the Community Day with Machop starts this Saturday, January 16th. We will show you all the Shinies, bonuses, and tips so you can make the most of the event.
What is a Community Day? This event takes place once a month and highlights a Pokémon for several hours. The monster then appears everywhere and can be caught more frequently as a Shiny. A suitable bonus rounds off the Community Day.
For the first Community Day of 2021, Machop will be in the spotlight. The fighting Pokémon will appear everywhere.
Community Day in January 2021 – Start time and bonuses
When? On Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time.
Pokémon of the day: Machop appears more frequently in the wild
Exclusive move: Counter
Bonus: Triple Stardust for catching Pokémon
Bonus: Three-hour duration of incense
Bonus: You can evolve Machoke into Machamp up to 2 hours after the event to learn the move Counter
This Community Day will last 6 hours again. This has been the case in previous months to allow players to enjoy the event comfortably from home during the Corona crisis.
What you can buy in the shop: There are also offers in the in-game shop:
- For 1280 coins, you can buy a box that contains a Premium Raid Pass, 4 Incense, 4 Star Pieces, and 30 Ultra Balls
- For one Euro, you can purchase the special research “Fight your way up, Machop!”
How to make the most of the Community Day
How to prepare: The most important point for Community Day is having enough Poké Balls. We recommend having at least 300 Poké Balls in stock. If you’re only playing from home, you should even have more balls.
Also, sort your Pokémon box out beforehand so that you have enough space for catching during the Community Day.
Use these items: Very important is the Star Piece. It gives you triple Stardust and with the Star Piece, you can even accumulate 4.5 times the dust. You should keep it active while playing as much as possible.
The incense is also strong for the Community Day. It lasts for 3 hours, and 2 incenses are sufficient to keep Pokémon consistently attracted.
You should also use a trick. With the catching trick, you can catch Pokémon super fast and skip the annoying animations. We will show you how the trick works here:

How you can play from home: If you don’t want to go out or can’t due to the Corona pandemic, you won’t miss anything. Thanks to the strong incense, you can continuously catch from home.
Settle on the sofa and light an incense. You should get plenty of Shinies if you’re catching consistently.

This is what the Shinies look like: For the Community Day, the Shiny rate of Machop is significantly improved, and you can easily catch the “little Hulk”. Machop is green as a Shiny, which somewhat resembles a little Hulk:
How likely is a Shiny? The rates during the Community Day are good. In the past, they were 1 in 25. Machop usually has a rate of about 1 in 450.
