In Fallout 76, it is possible to send a robot to search for items in the world. However, a new version of this tin friend has a curious peculiarity: it overwhelms players with communist propaganda, which can be quite annoying.
What does the robot do? You can buy the Communist Collectron for 500 atoms in the game. Then you command it to go out into the world and collect items. Just like you know from the regular Comrade Collectron.
The Communist Collectron, however, constantly spreads communist propaganda. It spouts phrases like: “We are the proletariat. Our work is never done!” or “Free yourselves from your chains!”
You can operate the robot in two modes:
- Proletariat – The tin friend collects food and water
- Revolutionary – The Collectron searches for blood packs and weapons

How does the robot annoy the players? The communist sayings alone would still be funny. However, the Communist Collectron not only brings home the items it is supposed to search for. It also fills your stash with propaganda flyers. And not just one or two, but quite a few. And that happens every time you send it out.
This means you have to constantly dispose of these flyers. You can sell them for one caps each, but that involves quite a bit of effort, especially with the amount that accumulates.
And that can be quite annoying.
How do players react? The Communist Collectron is already a topic of conversation in the Fallout 76 community. Some find it annoying, others find the idea amusing.
- Aero82Art says on reddit: “I really don’t like going on adventures for an hour and finding 8 propaganda posters, 1 frag grenade, and 1 box of Dandy Boy Apples. I understand it’s a joke item and overall I enjoy the bot and its sayings, but I spent 500 atoms on it, which is the same price as the normal Collectron that actually finds useful junk and items. The propaganda poster just takes up space in the bin, and I have to remove them. Please, please, please remove it from the possible loot pool. Thank you.”
- FireRabbit67 explains on reddit: “The communist Collectron looks for weapons but mainly delivers useless propaganda flyers. I played for a few hours (maybe 3-4) and got 35-40 propaganda flyers as well as just a single frag grenade.”
- CaptZombieHero is pretty annoyed on reddit: “So far the bastard has only brought 3 blood packs but 73 propaganda posters. What a waste of atoms.”
- goblinite2 takes it with humor on reddit: “Why do you want to ban the literature of the people, comrades? If the commissar hears this, he will question your dedication to the party!”
The Wastelanders update not only brought the communist Collectron but many other new contents as well. Basically, Fallout 76 has now become the game it was meant to be from the start, says MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus.
