Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is getting even more game modes. The new variations of the Gunfight offer additional team battles and the possibility for duels.
These modes are coming: The Co-Design Director of the Multiplayer of Modern Warfare, Joe Cecot, responded to a player’s question on Twitter. The player wanted to know if the Gunfight mode will also get a 3v3 option.
Cecot confirmed this by stating: “At some point, and even 1v1!”.
You can look forward to two new variations of the Gunfight mode.
When are the modes coming? Cecot has not yet provided a date. Currently, the focus seems to be on addressing several bugs that plague the game.
New Rules for Gunfight
What is Gunfight anyway? Gunfight is a multiplayer mode where currently teams of two players compete against each other. They receive a random selection of weapons and equipment, which changes every two rounds.
The objective is to eliminate the opposing team on the small map or control the flag after time expires or have more health points.
What are the new modes for? The new modes allow larger teams of three players to join in and compete. It seems important to some players to be able to compete with two friends.
However, the 1v1 mode is particularly interesting. It finally offers the chance to compete directly with other players. However, it is not yet clear whether you can also join directly with a friend. The mode would be interesting for:
- final decisions on which player is better (among rivals and friends)
- practicing underused weapons against each other (selection is random)
- friendly duels or private tournaments
Are there tournaments? Cecot has also not yet spoken about a tournament mode. However, the 2v2 Gunfight has already received a tournament mode. It would therefore be conceivable and sensible to extend this to 3v3 and 1v1 as well.
Even if this should not officially be possible, players could still hold private tournaments and manually enter the results. This way, each player could shine and win with their own skill.
Whether the currently known 2v2 maps are also suitable for 3v3 and 1v1 remains to be seen. Perhaps the developers will also respond to the map requests:
