In a survey, we wanted to know from you which combat jobs from Final Fantasy XIV are your absolute favorites. Here is a ranking of the most popular classes in Final Fantasy XIV based on your responses.
Here’s what it was about: The MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV offers its players a choice of a total of 17 combat jobs, which are called “classes” in other games. That’s a decent amount and there is something for every type of player. We at MeinMMO were therefore curious to find out which jobs are particularly popular with you.
In a survey we let you vote and create a ranking of the most popular jobs from FFXIV.
Here’s how you voted: A total of 1,332 readers participated in the survey. Everyone could only cast one vote. Here are places 17 to 11:

Place 10: Gunbreaker
- Weapon: Gunblade

This is the Gunbreaker: The Gunbreaker is the latest addition to the tank jobs of FFXIV. The job is based on the character Squall from FFVIII, whose gunblade served as the model for the weapon of the job and whose skills were also incorporated into the MMORPG.
The Gunbreaker is a classic combo job. In combat, he uses specific skills in succession to form a combo that deals more damage with each ability used. His resource, Cartridge, grants the tank magical bullets for his weapon, which he can expend to unleash powerful finisher skills.
In FFXIV, the martial art of the Gunbreaker originated from a nation called Bozja. Long ago, an elite guard of Bozja used gunblades to protect their queens. After the country was conquered by Garlemald, many believed that this martial art was lost. However, there are still a few who master it and can train new Gunbreakers.
Place 9: Astrologian

This is the Astrologian: The Astrologian is one of the three healer jobs currently in FFXIV and is a hybrid. He can switch between two stances before battle, focusing either on pure power healing or shield healing.
In addition, the Astrologian can buff the group by using the power of the stars. In battle, he regularly draws a random card from his deck, which he can then assign to one of his teammates. Depending on the card, the teammate receives a damage buff.
Originally, the art of astrology came from the faraway land of Sharlayan. After the Garlean Empire began its conquest, the Sharlayans retreated to an island in the north of the continent and took their knowledge with them. However, individual Astrologians continue to come to Eorzea and spread their knowledge among the adventurers.
Place 8: Paladin

This is the Paladin: Another job among the tanks. The Paladin is as classic as it can get in FFXIV. He tanks with sword and shield, uses holy magic to damage his foes, and can heal himself when the going gets tough.
Similar to the Gunbreaker, the Paladin chains his combo skills together in battle to deal damage and draw the enemy’s aggro toward himself. However, he finishes the combo with a triple execution of a strong finisher. Furthermore, his resource, Oath, allows him to execute a strong defensive skill for a short time.
Paladins have served the royal house of the city-state of Ul’dah for centuries and protect its members with their lives. Originally, the honor of becoming a Paladin was only granted to a few loyal fighters of the Sultans. However, lately, talented and sincere adventurers are also being welcomed into their ranks.
Place 7: Dragoon

This is the Dragoon: The first DPS in our top 10 is a melee fighter wielding a spear. The Dragoon uses two different combos in battle, which culminate in two strong finishers and, upon completion, enhance the first skill of the combos. This causes the combos to continuously loop.
However, Dragoons are best known for their jumps. With their powerful jump attacks, they dive down onto their enemies, dealing massive damage. Thanks to the power of the dragon, which Dragoons can utilize, their jumps become even more powerful.
For a thousand years, Dragoons were considered elite fighters of Ishgard in the war against the dragons. With their spears, they could pierce the thick scales of the beasts and annihilate them. However, after the end of the war, the truth about the original purpose of the Dragoons came to light.
Place 6: Dancer

- Role: Ranged DPS

This is the Dancer: With the Dancer came the third ranged job to FFXIV, and it turned heads in the community with its beautiful animations and support abilities. In combat, the Dancer uses throwing weapons to attack his enemies and dances to provide buffs to his group members.
The Dancer’s attacks both fill his Dance Fever gauge and provide him with feathers. Both resources can be collected first and then used for strong attacks.
Like many other jobs, the Dancer has its roots far away from Eorzea. The war dance originates from the nation Radz-at-Han, an island nation that players will visit in the upcoming expansion, Endwalker. The dancers are meant to not only entertain the audience with their graceful movements but also drive away darkness and sorrow from their souls.
